Happy 4th and More

As I wait for yet another response from Squarespace support on my SSL issues, big thanks to those who have reached out. You know the workaround to see the site is bbg.squarespace.com.

It’s the Independence Day holiday in America, so happy 4th I guess. It’s a day off work for most of us anyway. Not feeling particularly patriotic or festive this year for many reasons.

On the music front, I’ve noticed that SiriusXM Octane has been playing this wacky song a lot recently. It’s from AVATAR and is called “Captain Goat.”

AVATAR is a Swedish metal band and they dropped the track last month. The band’s statement on the song:

‘Captain Goat' uses the motif of Satan and the spirit's journey through the underworld as a meditation. It is a negotiation with the harsh state of being and finding acceptance as you navigate the ruthless darkness of life.

I don’t know about all of that, but I did laugh pretty hard when I heard the song for the first time leaving work the other day. So much so that I sent the track to a coworker with the message “This is the anthem of the day.”

The guitar solo at about 2:56 is legit.

Eric asked me if this was a pirate song. Hell, maybe it is. Or it’s a metal parody of itself or something. But AVATAR is totally serious here. I think.

“Row us home, Captain Goat!”
