2013 M3 Rock Festival - Recap Videos

Since I didn't get to attend the M3 Rock Festival this year, I have to rely on videos to see what I missed. I heard that Jackyl, Kix, Twisted Sister and Love/Hate were awesome. If you were at the fest, I'd love for you to leave a review in the comments section. Please, tell me everything I missed - and don't forget to tell me about backstage stuff and funny mishaps.

Here's Steelheart:

A New Aerosmith DVD Is Coming

Aerosmith will release Rock For The Rising Sun in June. The DVD features the band's 2011 performances in Japan. The video will be out on regular DVD and Blu-Ray. The movie features both concert footage and behind-the-scenes interviews. I know I'll get this since I buy everything Aerosmith releases.

Here's the trailer.

Farewell Jeff Hanneman

Founding Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman died yesterday. He was 49. According to the band's official announcement, Hanneman died of liver failure. He was also battling necrotizing fasciitis, perhaps from a spider bite. Slayer released this statement via Facebook:

“Slayer is devastated to inform that their band mate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. He was 49. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.”

In honor of Jeff, here's some classic Slayer.

Here You Go: Bon Jovi Live Sans Richie Sambora

Have you seen the clips of Bon Jovi live with guitarist Phil X instead of Richie Sambora yet? Phil X is a very accomplished session guitarist and he's filled in with Bon Jovi before. Still, something is amiss here. Maybe it's just me, but I bet you think some of the sparkle is missing as well. It's bad enough that Bon Jovi is so heavily country these days... but without Richie, something is definitely lacking. Watch and discuss.

Get Well Tom Hamilton!

Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton has pulled out of the band's remaining Australian tour stops due to illness. He is apparently back here in the states, seeking medical treatment.

According to reports, Hamilton has a chest infection.

Musician David Hull is filling in for Hamilton. When Hamilton battled cancer back in 2006, Hull filled in for him back then as well.

Aerosmith have four dates left on this current leg of their Music From Another Dimension tour.
