The new Rolling Stones song "Gloom & Doom" is just awesome. It is the band's first new recording in seven years. To me, the song is catchy and has a nice, heavy edge. I wish the band would release an album of all new material, but who knows when (if) that will ever happen again.
The band will play a smattering of live shows in November and December.
Amongst the thousands of unread emails, a note with the subject line "A message from LYNCH MOB & DIO DISCIPLE vocalist Oni Logan" caught my eye. My eyes got wider and wider as I kept reading. See, Oni sort of, but didn't exactly, quit the band yesterday. Read the note and let me know what you think:
"A note to all Lynch Mob listeners,
The Lynch Mob is on hiatus, for how long? I don't know. Without getting long winded, truth is I haven't left Lynch Mob, I'm just taking the time in pursuing other projects that I would like to be a part of. I'm sure we'll regroup somewhere down the road.
Other projects... One being The Dio Disciples US tour dates that start on October 20th at the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA as a guest vocalist. I had been asked by the band to join them in paying homage to Dio's music and legacy. I have many great memories of Ron, I first met him in 1989 in West Palm Beach Florida, we had spoken for a couple of hours back stage which led to the bar, by the end of the night I told him that I was interested in coming out to California to catch the dream. His answer was, "well, come to LA then," as easy as that, I couldn't help but chuckle as to how easy he made the journey appear to me but I did, I took his advice, it had been one of the best pieces of advice anyone has ever given me. As fate would have it, we would become family friends in sharing Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas holidays as well as Halloween and New Years Eve party's together, sort of surreal to think about it now, he always was such a great host and organized the best New Years Eve party's every year, those were and still are some great memories.
Ron had such a great quality in how he was able to engage with people, no matter who you were he always made you feel like you were the only person in the room, I believe this had been one of the reason why his arms had reached so many people across the globe. It's an honor to have been asked to represent a friend's legacy and music, I truly believe he would have wanted his songs to continue being celebrated in all four corners of the globe through his fans, fellow musicians, friends and family and loyal band members... we'll all keep on singing his songs." - Oni Logan
New video week continues!
Five Finger Death Punch is one of my favorite modern metal bands. 5FDP just released a video for 'The Pride,' which is one of my favorite tracks on American Capitalist.
Video footage is taken from the band's recent tour and their set at Rock on the Range last May.
Five Finger Death Punch singer Ivan Moody shares, "One of the best parts of being in this band is that we have the chance to design and build bigger and bigger live shows. Our concerts became spectacular gatherings of our extended family and we wanted to share this amazing experience with everyone. So we wrote & designed this video in dedication of our loyal, dedicated, militant fan base known as Knuckleheads who deserve the best experience we can give them. You've all stood by us & diligently helped us introduce the world to Five Finger Death Punch and this is our way of saying Thank You! We couldn't have done any of this without all of you."
Sister Sin have a new video for the single "End Of The Line." The song is from the forthcoming album Now and Forever, out October 22nd.
I quite like this band: a good mix of Swedish sleaze and modern edge. Sister Sin is exactly the sort of band Rock on the Range should be actively trying to recruit for their festival this coming May.
Germany's Kissin’ Dynamite has a new video for “Six Feet Under.” I really dig this band, but it's hard for me to write about it because most of the band's information is in German.
The guys in Kissin' Dynamite are currently out on tour with Dragonforce and Huntress. Here's the video for "Six Feet Under," from the album Money, Sex & Power.
Carrying the Glam torch, Black Veil Brides are currently finishing up the concept album Wretched And Divine: The Story Of The Wild Ones. The band released a sample of the song "In The End" via a WWE promotional clip.
The new album is due in January 2013.
Black Veil Brides is one of those really polarizing bands: people here either really love or really hate the band. I'm in the first category. I believe the BVB are really helping the Glam cause and are a complete package: songs melodic, live shows fun and they have a great Glam look to boot. Here's the sample of the new song. It's a little hard to hear, but you can tell it has promise.
