New Releases in November!

November 2011 is shaping up to be an awesome month for new music! Today, Steel Panther will release Balls Out and I'll be downloading it from Amazon when I get home from work. On November 8, Asking Alexandria will release Stepped Up and Scratched, so that's another day-of-release purchase I'll be making for sure.

Then, during Thanksgiving week, Nickelback and James Durbin will release albums, too! For the heavier music lovers, Megadeth releases TH1RT3EN today. And on November 8, you can get The Lost Children from Disturbed. There are many reissues, retrospectives and box sets out from bands like Slipknot, U2, and Rush too. This November is shaping up to be about the best month for new music all year long.

What albums will you buy this month (besides Steel Panther)?

Happy Halloween 2011!

Happy Halloween Glam fans! This is my favorite holiday. If you dressed up like a Glam rocker, please let me know (and send pics!)

I received a photo from a former coworker the other day. One of her current team members dressed up like Vince Neil and he was surprisingly accurate!

Since there is no one more appropriate for Halloween than Alice Cooper, I figured posting a throwback clip would be fitting on a scary day like today. Someday I'd like to be Alice for Halloween. Since really all you need is the make-up and a top hat, I could probably do it tonight for Trick-or-Treat, but I don't want to terrify every kid on my street. I'm passing out Snickers tonight if you want to stop by!

The Picture of Steven Tyler After His Fall Is Terrifying

Steven Tyler was recently on NBC's Today, talking about the bad fall he took a couple days ago. The freeze frame (below) shows just how banged up Tyler really is... in fact, he looks so bad, my stomach turned a little the first time I saw the photo. During the interview, Steven swears by his sobriety and says he fell because he passed out from food poisoning. Whatever the case, I just hope he heals all the way.

Richie Kotzen to Headline Fundraiser in California

Everyone knows how much I dig Richie Kotzen so I thought I should pass along news that the singer/guitarist will headline a charity event in California next month. The cause is a great one too: the welfare of animals. Here's the details:

HOLLYWOOD, CA (October 27, 2011) -  Come join us for the Second Annual Humanity Thru Music fundraiser in benefit of the Fur & Feather Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit organization dedicated to the safety and welfare of animals. KLOS and the AVALON HOLLYWOOD is hosting this year’s Humanity Thru Music Green Carpet and “PAWsta” dinner, which promises to be even more sensational than last year’s event.

This year’s event is bigger and better with more celebrities and more excitement! Strut down our Celebrity Green Carpet, and wag your tail while you rock-out at Hollywood’s most historic landmark, the Avalon Hollywood, on November, 13th.

This is the Second Annual “Humanity Thru Music” and our concert line-up is a howling good time with celebrity Gretchen Bonaduce and her 80’s band Ankhensenamen opening for Multi-platinum recording artist Richie Kotzen (Mr. Big/POISON). The night will be hosted by celebrity pet trainer and radio host Harrison Forbes from radio show PET TALK.

The first 100 tickets sold get a raffle ticket for a chance to win a HUGE Def Leppard package. The package includes: Signed guitar by the whole band, signed 11x17 portrait of Def Leppard by their private photographer Ash Newell, and a signed bass-drum head by the whole band!!

The night starts with a Pawsta dinner buffet, cash bars, HUGE silent auction and raffles all in benefit of Fur & Feather Animal Sanctuary, a 501(c)3 dedicated to much needed animal welfare in California. Tickets are $35 for General and $50 for VIP. TO BUY TICKETS and for more information on the ticket levels go to www.wantickets.com, www.ticketfly.com or call 818.398.0340.

Humanity Thru Music is a fundraising celebration for the safety & welfare of animals as well as the environment. Our Goal is to build the first fully solar/wind powered no-kill sanctuary in California where high-kill shelters still exist and animal cruelty runs. We are currently fundraising to buy land and build homes where animals can live in healthy surroundings until they are adopted. This environment will protect and allow all animals to live to see their full potential. Humanity Thru Music encourages people to participate in the fight for a No-Kill Nation and Solar World. We want our guests to walk away having been empowered to make a difference in the world.

For more info go to www.furfeather.org and for info on the event for to www.955klos.com or www.avalonhollywood.com.

Valora Just Rocks!

The other day, I was getting ready to get out of my car at the gym and this song came on the satellite radio called "I Waited For You" and I noted the band was Valora. I listened to the entire song and dug around for a piece of paper to write down the band and song title just so I could post on here. It's rare when a band makes me take notice like that.

So Valora is from Whittier, California and is female fronted. They are on Hollywood Records and their sound is sort of a cross between Kelly Clarkson, The Bangles, Halestorm and a little Lita Ford. There isn't much else to say. Sometimes it is better to let the music do the talking. Watch.

Get Well, Steven Tyler!

Steven Tyler had a health emergency in Paraguay yesterday. Tyler took a tumble in his hotel shower and got some nasty cuts on his face. He even needed dental implants after losing two teeth in the accident!

Aerosmith is currently on tour in South America. Tyler is expected to recover but this is definitely scary news. Apparently the tour is rough on Tyler because Blabbermouth ran a report the other day bemoaning the quality of the front man's voice. Apparently it gave out and songs like "Dream On" were dropped from the set.

We all remember the stage fall he took back at Sturgis a couple years ago... and then that created a downward spiral in his relationship with the rest of Aerosmith. I hope Steven recovers fully from his fall and that the band tours North America soon! After all, Aerosmith is my favorite band. There is no song better than "Nobody's Fault!"
