30 Years Later...

Today is the 30th anniversary of Bon Scott's death. The AC/DC front man certainly left a legacy and cadre of fans. Post Scott, AC/DC became the biggest rock band in the world with Back in Black, a tribute to their fallen friend. There are news stories all over the Internet about fan tributes and memorials. I'll just leave you with this video clip of "Jailbreak."

The New Bullet For My Valentine Song Rules

Alert! This is not a Glam post. Rather, it's a post about a modern band I love: Bullet For My Valentine. The band is coming back soon with a new album called Fever and they recently gave away an album track "Begging for Mercy" free via Tweet. Or something like that. I just waited for the song to hit YouTube and then I listened.

Anyway, here's the clip so check it out. I know some of you guys dig this band. I've seen Bullet For My Valentine live before - but I'm still looking forward to them and Slash the most at Rock on the Range. Check out "Begging for Mercy" and give me your opinion. Don't worry - more Glam tomorrow!

The official release:

New York, NY- Hard rock band Bullet For My Valentine returns with its third Jive album, Fever, on April 27. The official first single, the blistering “Your Betrayal” impacts at radio on March 9, with a video to follow shortly.

Fever pairs Bullet For My Valentine with producer Don Gilmore, best known for his work with Linkin Park and Good Charlotte. The Welsh band—vocalist/guitarist Matt Tuck, guitarist Michael Paget, bassist Jason James and drummer Michael Thomas--recorded Fever in studios both in its native Wales and Los Angeles  The album follows 2008’s Scream Aim Fire, which debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, a career high for the group, whom Kerrang! named Best British Band in both 2008 and 2009. Worldwide Scream Aim Fire has sold one million copies and debuted in the Top 5 in Germany, Austria, Australia and #1 in Japan and reached gold status in the UK and Canada. Their 2006 debut, The Poison, has sold a million copies worldwide and certified gold status in America, the UK, Canada and Germany. Since those releases BFMV have rocked audiences on the Taste of Chaos, Mayhem, and No Fear festivals.

Eager to get new music into their fans’ hands as quickly as possible, BFMV is offering album track “Begging For Mercy” as a free download for a limited time at BulletForMyValentine.com.

The electrifying live band starts a headlining U.S. tour on April 30th. Stops for the festival veterans include New Jersey’s Bamboozle Festival and Columbus, Ohio’s Rock on the Range. Upcoming international festival highlights include the Download Festival in the United Kingdom, Germany’s massive Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, Sweden’s Metal Town, Belgium’s Graspop, Austria’s Nova Rock and Italy’s famed Gods Of Metal. The international release of Fever is April 26th.

You Knew It Was Coming: Rocklahoma 2010 Predictions

It seems as if the Rocklahoma promoters will announce the 2010 lineup Monday. Each year, we always make a list of predictions, so why break tradition at this point? Remembering AEG is involved now and a press release from a few months ago stated the fest would be adding modern acts, here's my choices for bands that might be playing in 2010. Kix to Play Sweden for First Time

"We never rule out anything, especially if we can get direct flights! If other things get tabled, we all have passports and wouldn’t rule out any reasonable solid offer."

That’s what bassist Mark Schenker of Kix told me yesterday when I asked him if the band would be playing more European dates this summer. Kix will play their first Scandinavian performance ever as part of the Stockholm Rock Out. That festival runs April 30 - May 1, 2010.

I talked to Mark about the Stockholm festival for Noisecreep but felt like I’d share the best part with you guys. After all, we’ve all been together a long time and we ‘get it,’ you know?

So here’s a direct question and transcription:

BBG!: Can we expect a full-fledged Kix tour this summer in America (with, *cough* Cinderella perhaps)?

MS
: "We are playing M3 Festival in Columbia, MD with Cinderella and Scorpions - we are really looking forward to that, it’s home turf for us and we are excited to see the other bands. We have not been asked yet, but Kix and Cinderella would be a simply smashing ticket for hard rock fans. Seriously, who wouldn’t want to see Cinderella? When we played Rocklahoma the year before last, we saw Fred [Coury, Cinderella drummer] play with Lynch Mob and he is just a terrific player and was great to watch. I heard third party that Tom Keifer is singing better than ever which is very exciting news, so if some shows are offered, or a string of dates are offered, I would say we would have to seriously consider it."

In case you’re wondering, Kix hasn't played Europe since just after the Blow My Fuse tour. That means right around 1990 or so. In my Noisecreep article, you’ll read about why the Kix boys are so excited to play Sweden, what they hope to see there and also some inside info on that new live album I exclusively told you about way back in September of 2008.

Stockholm Rock Out lineup:
Slaughter
Great White
Steelheart
KIX
KEEL
Dizzy Reed
Tigertailz
BulletBoys
XYZ
Pretty Boy Floyd
Vains of Jenna
TUFF
Shameless feat. Stevie Rachelle
Nasty Idols
M.ILL.ION
Crashdiet
Badmouth
Dynazty

Aerosmith Will Headline Download

I guess things are all better in the Aerosmith camp. The band - with Steven Tyler - will headline Download 2010, alongside Rage Against the Machine and AC/DC. Does this mean Aerosmith will tour again soon? Or was the money even too good for millionaires to pass up? I've got a lot of questions surrounding this announcement. Sadly, there wasn't much info provided. If you're lucky enough to attend Download, then you already know the festival is set for June 11-13 at Donnington Park in the UK.

Just added late today: Thirty Seconds to Mars, Stone Sour, Billy Idol, Lamb of God and Five Finger Death Punch.

Not So Lovey-Dovey Valentine's Day Songs

Happy Valentine's Day, glam fans. Over the past three-plus years, we've talked a lot about great love tunes and awesome power ballads. But how about a list of songs that are not so lovey-dovey. You know, a sort of anti-Valentine's Day list. Here's a few of my picks, in no real order:

Bon Jovi - You Give Love a Bad Name

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - I Hate Myself for Loving You

Def Leppard - Love Bites

J. Geils Band - Love Stinks

Nazareth - Love Hurts

What do you think of my list? Got anything to add? There are tons of angry love/I-hate-life songs out there and the five above were the first to come to my mind. And you know what? I literally love - seriously love - each song on my list. I guess it's easy to love a song about hate (or at least angst)!
