Alice Cooper - 'Wild Ones'

The original Alice Cooper group is back, baby! The first song from the upcoming release The Revenge of Alice Cooper is called "Wild Ones" and it is glorious.
"Wild Ones" beats my expectations for what a reunited, original Alice Cooper band would sound like - and gives me great hopes for the new album. I am so ready for this.

But . . . it also feels like he is not fully leaning back into that 70's headspace. It comes off as lyrically 80s, with a slightly 70s feel, and then (like the last one) a wee bit tired. I mean the line "feel the fire" comes off sounding like a question!
And the video? Great to see them all having a good, slower, time. Truly. But Alice standing there, talk-singing his lines, with his arms crossed (while seemingly looking down and to the side while reading the lyrics), is sorta' hilarious in a deflated balloon sorta' way. Then again, when you don't have all the bells and whistles, you do have to stand and . . . deliver? Well, stand and provide is good enough at the ripe old age of 77.
I promise I am not slagging Alice. Great to have him still around. Great to see him doing this sort of collaboration. And, to Stu's other point, I would rather see this version of the band than his current one. I'd prefer a little less dressing and a bit more music. Heck, I will even go a bit further with that: tired Alice, with the old guys, doing the old songs, would be more of a draw for me at this point. And in a ballroom or club. While I love that he still draws people to sheds with his theatrics, I think a stripped down Alice fits a slowed down Alice paying tribute to his earlier days.
Then again, I'm always chasing rainbows. That was a tip of the hat to those that know.
[And if this ends up being a double post, my apologies. The site has been giving me never-ending trouble for the last three weeks with posts not showing up and then showing up or never showing up. Not sure what gives.]
