Meanwhile, Triumph Is Back

There's no indication this special appearance will amount to anything else, although it wouldn't surprise me if Rik Emmett, Gil Moore and Mike Levine would play more shows for the right amount of cash.
The 2008 Rocklahoma was five days (which was too long) but it was a big deal that Triumph was headlining. I honestly don't remember too much of their performance all these years later. I do remember "Lay It On The Line" and the horrible weather and endless mud.
Back here in 2025, Triumph will perform Friday at the Rogers Festival just before the hockey game.

My first encounter with them was probably one of their weaker outings, Sport of Kings. But, man oh man, when I heard "Somebody's Out There" I was hooked! I mean, it was hard rock with pop sensibilities and I was a fan. Little did I know at the time how complicated the recording sessions were! But that also led me to their back catalog.
And I always giggle when I think that their song "Troublemaker" (from their last studio album, without Emmett and featuring Phil X) is on the soundtrack to Hellraiser III, right alongside America's best trio, Motorhead!
I doubt this will lead to anything more from them. But it is nice to see that they are getting some attention. And a triple bill with them in the second slot, April Wine as the headliner, and Kick Axe opening would be amazing.
