‘Bye Bye Bye’

I’ve been meaning to share this for a couple of weeks. Sleep Theory - metalcore, not Glam - just released a couple of interesting covers. One of those is “Bye Bye Bye” from N’Sync.

“Bye Bye Bye” is on the No Strings Attached album, and I saw that tour, too. It was the summer of 2000, and I was in college. Eric and I saw the show at Cincinnati’s Cinergy Field. That stadium doesn’t exist anymore, by the way.

A little-known performer called Pink was the opening act.

At any rate, “Bye Bye Bye” was a massive single for N’Sync and is a song just about everyone knows at least somewhat. So now I chuckle when I hear Sleep Theory’s version play on Octane. It seems so out of place that it is just hilarious to me. Sleep Theory also covered Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer,” which is one of her biggest hits. It’s also good for a chuckle.

These pop covers are part of Sleep Theory’s Emotional Support Care Package EP. The best part of all is watching the band laugh at themselves on stage performing the covers. Don’t take yourselves too seriously and have fun, folks. It is summer, after all!
