Ghost, ‘Umbra’ - New Video
It’s here! Ghost just dropped their video for the song “Umbra” from the incredible album Skeleta. The word umbra means the darkest part of a shadow.
The clip starts with a Bible passage from John 1 2:16 “For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.”
Then we’re off and running.
Is the clip creepy? Yes.
Is it Friday the 13th? Again, yes.
Parts of this video were apparently shot in Stockholm’s Museum of the Hallwyl family (comments on YouTube told me that, so it must be true). There’s credits at the end and I love when bands add that detail. You can see just how many people it took to make a concept a reality.
The guitar solo in this one reminds me of 70s rock – like Blue Oyster Cult or something similar.
