‘Laid To Rest: The Grave Diggler Story, Episode 2’
SiriusXM Hair Nation host Tommy London and Octane host Jose Mangin are part of the second installment of Laid To Rest: The Grave Diggler Story. Plus, we get an extended look at the relationship between Sonny and Spencer Charnas. Of course, Sonny is the Grave Diggler frontman. Spencer is the singer of Ice Nine Kills. Naturally, they are the same - literally and figuratively.
Part 2 has it all.
The makeup is great here. The wrinkles on Spencer are pretty fun and yet actually realistic. He does sort of look like Keith Richards, though.
Plus, there’s a father-son counseling session that goes terribly wrong.
Spencer, talking about when he was a baby: “You took me to an opium den!”
Sonny: “It was EPCOT Center, you idiot!”
There’s also a throw-away reference to Canter’s. As in, Canter’s Deli - frequented by all our Sunset Strip faves back in the day.
Then the credits roll. And we hear from Bobbie Brown. Yep. And we learn about a $20K-a-month bandana habit. And Grave Diggler cookbooks, including Shout at the Deviled Eggs.
The best part? The ballad “Snatch and Release” at 7:58. Yes, I just wrote that.
Stick around for Stephen Pearcy. He gets the last word.
The guys in Ice Nine Kills are meme kings. I wish they would do a full Grave Diggler album, just for the vibes. Alas.
