Thank You, ‘Hysteria’
Amazing 39 years of Hysteria today. Definitely the album I’ve listened to the most across my lifetime. Yes, even more than Aerosmith Rocks.
Hysteria came out when I was in elementary school and the songs were just… everywhere. Played at school football games. On jukeboxes at Pizza Hut. On the radio. Endlessly on MTV. Definitely a genre-defining album. Probably the single most important Glam record - yes, even more so than Shout at the Devil or Look What The Cat Dragged In (although it’s close competition).
I can’t help but think of all the times I sat on my bed, doing homework while listening to Hysteria. I’m not just talking middle school or high school here, either. I’m talking through graduate school! The bed size and spread changed, but the music did not.
Hysteria is my comfort album. Like people have TV shows that they return to over and over, I have Hysteria for that feeling of familiarity and home. Thank you, Def Leppard. Thank you Mutt Lange!
