Meanwhile, I Don’t Remember 75% Of These Videos

The list below is of the first 50 videos played on MTV when the channel debuted.

I have never seen - or just don’t remember - 75% of the videos on the list. Furthermore, I didn’t even know some of these tracks had videos. Like “Baker Street,” for one. Great track. Never once considered looking up the official video.

Super interesting that Iron Maiden is on the list twice and STYX more than that! I guess that shows just how desperate MTV was for content at the start of the channel.

All this to say I don’t think any of these clips are very memorable. It took Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” (1983) to change the game.
