Sammy Hagar Sunday!

A cold Sunday is a perfect day for Sammy Hagar! Just listening to the red rocker makes me think of Cabo, the sun and tequila. Here's hoping Sammy plays some festivals this summer - either as a solo act or with Chickenfoot. I haven't seen Chickenfoot live, but I know Sammy's shows with the Wabos are a big party. Here are some of my favorite Sammy clips.

"Give to Live."

"Little White Lie"

"Mas Tequila"

The week ahead on Bring Back Glam! will be a big one. I'll reveal the top 10 Glam releases of 2009, look back on the best metal of the past decade and rip apart Rolling Stone's weak attempt at a "best of 00's" issue. See you tomorrow!

Alice Cooper Knows How to Record a Christmas Song

If you're anything like me, you despise Christmas music. Naturally, the annoying songs are everywhere these days: the mall, cafes, bookstores, the doctor. Still, every once in awhile, a Christmas song breaks through that doesn't make me want to pull out my hair. Enter Alice Cooper's version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." If you're not familiar, the song is included on the album We Wish You A Metal XMas...And A Headbanging New Year! In addition to Cooper, the album also includes songs by Geoff Tate ("Silver Bells"), Stephen Pearcy ("Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer") and Lemmy Kilmister ("Run Rudolph Run").

Here's the Alice Cooper tune. Let me know your thoughts.

See Shinedown, Halestorm and Rev Theory Live Tonight...for Free!

Like Shinedown, Halestorm or Rev Theory? Plan on staying in tonight? Might as well see all three bands live in concert...free.

There's a new social networking site called TheRave.com that is based around live music. The online network will air the live Shinedown show tonight. The concert takes place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The broadcast starts at 8pm CDT. Shinedown is touring behind their awesome album, The Sound of Madness.

You already know I love Shinedown - and my husband says the band is his favorite.

You have to register to watch the concert. Here's the steps:

Visit http://www.theravelive.com/webcast  to register in advance for this exclusive event.

Click on the ‘Free Signup’ button at the upper right of the page.
Choose the ‘Fan’ option and fill out the information.
Sign in on December 11th and click on the ‘Live Webcast’ tab to watch.

Oh, and before anyone complains about these bands being modern or not Glam or whatever - give props. The music industry is changing and it's smart Shinedown is letting fans watch their live show for free. This just means more of the bands we love will be jumping on the bandwagon soon enough.

Miley Cyrus Goes Glam?

Briefly: People Magazine is reporting that Miley Cyrus has recorded a version of Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." Apparently Bret Michaels is on the recording too.

I don't think I have anything else to say about this. It's all just a little too insane for me. To be fair, Miley is apparently a huge Poison fan, which is cool. I'm just not sure I'll be able to take the teen-pop version of "Rose."

Why You Should Know Age of Evil

Let's set this off. You should know Age of Evil. The band is comprised of two sets of brothers and the guys in the band are young. This is not a Glam band - think modern Iron Maiden. Still, Age of Evil seems to have the goods - and they do give props to their 80s heroes. The band's name is both a nod to the member's ages...and the world around us.

"The band name Age of Evil, yes, obviously comes from us being young and we’ll always be young at heart," says singer Jeremy Goldberg. "Age of Evil represents that rebellious attitude and we’re playing heavy metal, so it fits. It’s also our world view I guess you could say. When people stop fighting and stuff like that -- when that stops we’ll change our name -- but realistically I don’t think that will happen. We’re not pessimistic, just realistic."

It seems all the members of Age of Evil are realistic about the music industry, too. Jeremy is the elder Goldberg and he's also the singer/guitarist for the band - and a college student studying graphic design. His younger brother Jacob plays bass and is finishing high school at a rapid pace. Jordan Ziff handles lead guitar and Garrett Ziff plays drums. Both Ziff brothers are trained musicians.

So why am I writing about Age of Evil on a Glam site? Because the band did an amazing cover of Skid Row's "Slave to the Grind" for starters. Age of Evil has also covered Whitesnake's "Still Of the Night" and the Judas Priest song "Electric Eye."

Age of Evil just released the Get Dead EP featuring six songs - including the Skid Row and Priest covers. There's also two originals and two live tracks on the EP. Awhile back the band recorded Living a Sick Dream and former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman played on the album's title track. See? I told you there was 80s metal cred here.

Enough of this. Go to the band's Myspace right now and listen to the Skid Row cover. I couldn't find it on YouTube. After you've listened come back and watch the clip below of the band performing "Still of the Night." I've included an original song as a bonus.

Here's the original, "Living a Sick Dream." I think the members were around 14-17 when this was made.

Age of Evil plans to tour in 2010. I hope they play Rock on the Range. I'll be watching.

Listen Now: Reckless Love!

First off: thanks to all of you who emailed and sent me Facebook notes about the great band Reckless Love. Please believe I always check out every band tip that is sent to me, either via email or as a physical CD. That said, here we go:

You should be listening to Reckless Love right now. The band features H. Olliver Twisted on vocals. You might recall Twisted was the second (and now former) singer of Crashdiet. You'll notice in the clip below that Olli looks different - I don't know if it's because he's going full Glam or whatever - but there's definitely something "new" about him. Heck, maybe he's just happy.

Reckless Love will most likely release a new album next year.  The band is currently touring Finland.

Here's "Beautiful Bomb."
