Urban Dictionary

Does anyone here ever read Urban Dictionary? You know, it's a website less credible than Wikipedia -- if that's even possible to comprehend. Somehow I stumbled across Urban Dictionary over the weekend and was appalled at the entry for Glam Metal:

GLAM METAL: Sucked ass and deserved to die. The worst type of rock ever. Metal is not supposed to be happy or about girls and getting laid. I am glad grunge killed that suck ass piece of shit glam metal because they were all a bunch of cross-dressing faggots from L.A. Grunge and Thrash is so much better and I am glad they killed off faggy glam metal. Nirvana and Alice in Chains are so much better and I am sad they both have deceased frontmen, and because of them glam metal is DEAD. Now its trying to make a come back with fucking that faggot from Poison and his gay reality dating show "Rock of Love" and the guy from Motley Crue with his Sixx AM. I cant even see how people could have like it back in the eighties. Glam Metal is for queers.

Clearly I didn't edit any of that post. I mean, really, is this what people truly think of Glam? Is it? I would never go on Urban Dictionary and write a similar post about Grunge. Never. Good grammar skills notwithstanding, I just couldn't stoop that low and dare look so...uneducated. The thing is, Urban Dictionary has an option where you can rate the post and edit. I did neither. I do my fair share of rating Glam here everyday and, while I could totally own every single person on that substandard website Oxford English Dictionary style, I chose to rise above. I decided that would be the Glam thing to do.

The link to the article is here. It's up to you to personally decide to rate or edit.

I agree. I hate rap. I wouldn't waste time telling the world about it on urban dictionary.com ( but if I did, it would be better written than that was ).

I think the article deserves no coment at all, Clearly the persone who wrote it, is full of hate, he clearly had a big problem with Glam sometime in his life, besides he is clearly homophobic, so what to say...just feel bad for such a poor soul...just like Allyson makes everyday here, lets bring back glam !! and make his life more misarable than it is for sure now....

;)))

As pathetic as that definition is, there are many just as bad on that site. I suspect that the person who wrote it is one of the same people who finds entertainment in posting drivel on youtube videos he doesn't like.

Shoegazers - never happy at the best of times - now if he had gotten into Glam at an early age instead of nirvana and there ilk - then maybe he would be a happier person.

All grunge talked about was wrecked homes and drugs, how is that better substance for lyrics than girls and getting laid!?! This is joke, this guy is an idiot.

I DONT POST MUCH BUT I HAD TO JUST POINT OUT A FEW QUICK THINGS, ALICE IN CHAINS ACTUALLY OPENED THEIR FIRST TOUR IN SUPPORT OF POISON, ALOT OF NIRVANA'S SONGS WERE ACTUALLY ABOUT NOT GETTING LAID, OR SCREWED OVER BY GIRLS, AND THERE ARE FAR MORE OPENLY GAY/BI SEXUAL ARTISTS IN THE "GRUNGE' STYLE OF MUSIC. I AM A FAN OF MOST MUSIC AND AS A MUSIC FAN I AM OFFENDED THAT SOMEONE WOULD BE THIS IGNORANT ,I GUESS EVERYONE IS ENTILTED TO HIS/HER OPINION HOWEREVER JUVINLLLE IT MAY BE

Music is music. And some have personal preference for certain styles, but one should not mitigate another genre of music because while there are some metal bands I wouldn't regularly listen to in my car, I do however, enjoy the energy and excitement that you see at a show. Personally, I like some of Nirvana. And while it's a sad tragedy, I'm not saddened by the end of Kurt Gobang's music..er, I mean Cobain. But I also like some glam music, jazz, funk, reggae, rock, and I sure love me some of dem blues.

If Nikki Sixx or Bret Michaels read this he would kick whoever wrote this' ASS!

Glam Rock is the best kind of METAL anywhere and screw Grundge even though I like Alice In Chains and Stone Temple Pilots (but u like STP as well!)!

well, at the very least, Bret would strangle him with his weave. ;)

Stevie Rachelle of Tuff says it best "Kurt Cobain is gone but im back"..

Fuck grunge. That style of music killed rock n roll.

I feel bad for people who actually take their time to write this kind of stuff. It really feels like they have too much time on their hands to kill, and above it all, feels like they're jealous of "us" glams, just because our mothers taught us the good use of shampoo and eyeliner.

Rock on!

I used to have a few standard replies for hecklers or people that would flip me off from the crowd. One of my favorites would be applicable here:

"What's the matter, dude - Did I fuck your girlfriend?"

Thank you, I'll be here all week...

you grunge dudes are retarded. yeah led zep never sang about sex, the beatles never sang about drugs, hendrix never wrote a song about drugs!!!! some 80's glam is poser. but the real bands crue, vh, qr, ratt, kiss etc... blow grunge bands. dont get me wrong nirvana, aic, stp, etc... are good bands. but rock n roll is sex, drugs and r'n r baby. smooth up in ya

Wow, I just found out I am a queer guy who has been married for 15 years with five kids and thought he was happily bangin' his head away to glam for the last 25 years! Damn, I guess I should be depressed because I am gay, listen to grunge, and get a rifle and go out like Kurt Cobain.
