Oh My Ra - Slash Helps with Rock Week on American Idol?

The other day, Slash Twittered that he was asked to be the "mentor" next week on American Idol. Yeah, next week is rumored to be rock week. When I received this Twitter I squealed and my husband admonished me. He totally doesn't get it. You see, people, we're talking about Slash and Adam Lambert on.the.same.show.talking.rock.music.

Glamtastic!

On and on I kept saying I could feel a week of epic proportions ahead. Now, to be clear: rock week is not confirmed. It's not even certain Slash will participate on the show. We should know for sure tomorrow night.

Tonight's theme is Big Band week. I'm excited as every week because that means hearing a new song from Adam - but I'll be honest: I wish we could skip ahead to rock week.

There are already tons of threads on American Idol forums around the Interwebs with people speculating what Adam will sing for rock week. See, from now on the contestants get to sing two songs per episode. That's double the Glam, Shaggy!

Adam would be well suited to play up his Glambert side. Yeah, I said Glambert. He can do one power ballad and one rocker and just go ahead and put the nail in the coffin on this competition. Some critics say small Kris Allen is gaining on Adam. I suppose that's the case if most Americans want another Jason Mraz. I sure don't.

You knew I was going to ask, so here it is: what should Adam sing for rock week?

The popular choices among most Idol fans are "I Remember You," "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Paradise City" and "Dream On." I would argue Adam shouldn't sing Guns n' Roses just because of the Slash factor. I'd love for Adam to sing "Caroline No" by the Beach Boys (yeah, they are considered a rock band) and "Nobody's Fault" by Aerosmith. Beyond that, I'm not guessing!

"Caroline No"

"Nobody's Fault"

I'll post about tonight's episode after it airs on the east coast.

Aerosmith- I don't wanna miss a thing, and Skid Row- In a Darkened Room.

That would be epic. Despite the fact I dont watch American Idol.

Allyson, what the fuck are you writing about this days? American Idol, for a swedish glam fan this is not interesting, it's fukkin rubbish, shape up. American Idol is everything that's is not real about music, I love your earlier work with this blogg, buw now...?

Sadly it gets less and less interesting these days to come here. I miss the good old days when this blog was filled with wonderful facts, news and clips of real glam music. Now it's Americon Idol most of the time. I can have that all over the web, if I wanted it. Which I don't.

How about bringing news about all those amazing bands all over the world? I find new and awesome bands on MySpace every day (most are from Sweden *lol*), which are never mentioned here and fit the glam category. I wish you would take a step back and realize that those are the bands who need our support. Not singers on AI who are watched by 20 Mio. people each week.

Sigh.

Do we seriously have to go over this…again? Every three months, a bunch of you start whining incessantly, swearing like you’re going to whip me into submission, thinking I’ll start posting only about Vains of Jenna and Motley Crue.

Ain’t gonna happen, so get over it.

As I’ve said several times in the past: if you don’t like what is written here, stop reading. It’s really just that simple. I’m a vegetarian, so I don’t frequent steak houses. I’m a liberal so I don’t attend Republican rallies. I have common sense so I don’t spew whiny comments all over public forums.

As a closing note, if you don’t think Slash being a guest judge on American Idol has a place on Bring Back Glam! you are sorely mistaken. I guess I could wait for all of you to start your own websites, dedicated to new content and original writing every single day of the year…but methinks I’d be holding my breath so long, I’d die.

This is all that will be said on the matter.

Kisses,

Allyson

wow, while i agree with you in that if you don't like it then don't come here i must say it's rather stupid to attack your "fans" like this. your analogy is not correct because you WERE covering the things that perople liked but no longer are. your writing has gotten suspect and very juvenile. so i will take your advice and leave for good. good luck with your site.

Allyson? Why Attacking your fans, I'm not demanding that you write about Mötley every day, but im tired of reading about Britney and American Idol. Wouldent be more interesting if you could get hold of the remains of crashdïet and ask them what's going on? In my book that's what I wanna read about.

i can't succumb to the Twitter madness or even the American Idol hype either, but....i just may have to watch rock week next week. Slash! interesting indeed.

We're all glam fans here, guys, cant we all just be lovely to each other and revel in the glory of huge hair, debauchery, guitar solo's and everything that is Glam?

I think I've made it clear how I feel about Adam Lambert but with rock week coming I'd say "I Don't Believe in Love" or "Take Home The Flame" (no jokes please, it's too obvious) for the hard stuff and "Spread Your Wings" or "Don't Close Your Eyes" for the softer song. I'll believe Slash on American Idol when I see it... oh, wait, that's right, I stopped watching that show a couple of years ago when I realized how fabricated it is.

Now, as for everyone having their panties in a bunch about what Allyson writes on here, she has a point. It's her blog and she can write what she wants... I would tend to agree though that the weekly posting about AI are a little much sometimes... granted, Slash potentially on AI does have validity... but I say keep up the typical great work we've gotten used to and leave the AI speculation to the "regular" sites...

I meant to say Take "HOLD" the Flame... but it did sound funny. Punnily enough.

By my count there are 1,087 articles on this site. I can think of 9 that are releated to American Idol or other topics. That is a whopping .0082% I find little reason to complain.

Al is worthless, he is no Liam gallagher,Vince Neil,Ian Brown, Tom Kiefer, maybe he can reach Steve "Sex", if he get lucky
April 28, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterVinceneil
I'm complain alot now, but its obvious that your a little bit horny for Adam, nothing wrong in that but please?
Why havent you called Crashdïet, you could to a reportage about their rise and fall or any other band?
What's happening with Crazy Lixx,Sister or Vains of Jenna?
April 28, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterLiamGallagher
"AI is no Vince Neil" - you're saying he can sing and remembers all the words ? I love Motley, but don't tell me Vince is some sort of actual singer, puh leez.
April 28, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterChristian
Wow! well I don't know that Allyson is "attacking" anyone! I dare say that she is free to blog about whatever she chooses.

And, yes, I am biased because I love Adam Lambert, but the kid is def. Glam and it is entirely appropriate to have his performances along with Allyson's commentary on "Bring Back Glam" .. cos THAT is exactly what Adam is doing!

Despite the fact that there obviously is a rocker on AI this season, Slash potentially being a mentor is entirely news worthy for rock fans!

*sighs*

It's a good thing you love music Allyson, because if you just wanted to work your ass off to get bitched at, you'd stay at work 24/7.

This is a free site people. While you are welcome to your opinions, it isn't costing you anything but time to read this site. If you don't like what's on it, spend your time elsewhere.

I for one am thrilled that Allyson chooses to spend HER time writing for us, whatever the subject matter.

By the way, I would LOVE to hear Adam sing Whitesnake, Still of the Night!
April 28, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterHeather
Christian your missing the point, Vince Neil is one of the best frontmens, Adam is just a pretty boy who can sing, I mean its more then just singing, and you should know that.
