Will Tony Iommi's Cancer Derail New Black Sabbath Music?

For anyone who is not aware, Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with cancer (lymphoma). It sounds like it was caught early, and the members of Black Sabbath are saying that it's given them a real kick in the pants to work on a new album, but I'm sure worried.

Having just lost Ronnie James Dio to cancer, it would be devastating to lose Tony as well, especially on the cusp of a reunion with Ozzy Osbourne that will include new music. According to Metal Hammer, Iommi has written two new songs just since his cancer diagnosis.

Here is Black Sabbath with Ian Gillan doing "Trashed."

Will you see Black Sabbath's reunion tour this summer?

I've got my ticket for their show in Malmö, Sweden in early June. Sure hope he beats this nasty disease. Saw them back in '98 too, but on that tour Bill Ward had to bow out due to heart problems so I've never seen the original line-up.

Praying for Tony's full recovery.

No guitarist sounds more Metal than Iommi.

Also, I will be there for the reunion and can't wait to hear the new album. I'm so glad these guys realize the importance of putting new music out. It's the legacy of Rock Legends we are talking about, here. Too bad Robert Plant just duzn't get it.

Even tho his voice is shot, more or less, compared to Ozzie, he's figured out a way to use it as illustrated by his one-off Zep Reunion performance and Multi-Grammy winning run with Alison Krauss. He and Page, along with John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham could make an incredible album together just as Iommi and Ozzie are planning.

I pray that Tony gets better also. He IS Black Sabbath not Ozzy Dio or anyone else. That man is the band and with such a monumental album hanging in the balance I hope all goes well and He recovers fully to write a song about how he kicked cancer's sorry ass!

Anyone notice that as soon as Tony agrees to start working with Sharon Osbourne again, he gets cancer? Further proof that she is evil incarnate.

It could also be Ozzie, too, Scott, even tho I'm sure Sharon has been all Yoko over the situation for years, driving Tony and Ozzie apart since the beginning of her involvement.

Although I have been a longtime fan of Ian Gillan, and wish Tony a speedy recovery, this was one of the lamest Black Sabbath songs I have ever heard. Is this what they have come to - just being 'Trashed' (by me) for this craptastic effort?
