Music Resolutions, Anyone?

Well, here we are again: the last day of the year. As we all say farewell to 2012, I figured I might as well poll the crowd regarding resolutions. I'm not talking about dropping weight or reading more (both are important, of course). Rather, I want to know about your resolutions regarding music.

My resolution is to stop buying physical media. I have nowhere to store CDs anymore. In fact, I'm in the process of ripping my CDs to my Amazon CloudPlayer. After that's done (and it will take forever, I'm sure) I'll be selling the CDs. Going forward, I'll only be buying Mp3 albums. Clutter makes me nervous and I'm trying to adopt a more minimalist lifestyle. I just have too much stuff, and I've been going through a major purge.

So, how about you? Resolve to go to more shows? A big festival? Take up a new instrument?

Hey, Eddie! Since you are a veteran New Jersey Rock Clubber, did you ever have the pleasure of seeing Gin Gypsy?

Do I want to put my money where my mouth is? Hmmmm...

Why wasn't nikki there when I needed her? Oh, I didn't have enough money. somebody else did.

I used to say, "niiki would believe in doing this..." until I saw her in action. jesus fucking christ! she still believes, she just has to justify it more. welcome to my new years resolution

Great, Christian! But did you listen to the subsequent originals? It's called Rock and Roll, my friend! And Cleavage is just one example of a whole new "old" world that awaits you! Have a Rockin' 2013!

like metalboy I plan on increasing my collection - Band don't really come to Scotland much and with a young family I find it difficult to travel to a lot of gigs - therefor I buy cd's vinyl etc to get my fix of music.

I plan on looking for some of these bands you mention - took me a long time to get certain Heart throb mob and glamour punks items but I did.

my 2013 will be spent searching out new (old) music

this makes me happy so this is what I will do.

MB- Gin Gypsy? The name sounds familiar, but I can't really place them. Of course, there were a lot of brain cells left lying on the floors of Studio One, Billy O's and L'Amour back in the day, so please excuse my clouded memory banks. Lol!

Hahaha!!!, Eddie! I will fill you in about seein' Gin Gypsy tonight! And I bet we were at L'Amour at the same time, Bro. I went to quite a few shows there back then!

Twenty or so years ago, I saw Bang Tango at Limelight in NYC. My girlfriend at the time mentioned it was rumored that Slash would be joining them on stage.

But first was the opening band, the as yet to be discovered, Gin Gypsy. Let's put it this way, if I had a toupee, it would have been blown clean off that night.

Sounding like an 80's Hard Rock cross between early AC/DC and ZZ Top, these dudes kicked so much major a*s, Slash didn't even wait 'til Bang Tango to get out there and just flat out jam leads with these New Jersey Rock and Roll Killers. He played 3 songs with 'em. Stunning. Then he did 2 with Bang Tango.

Earlier this year, I had drinks with Joe Leste of Bang Tango on The Monsters of Rock Cruise. He remembered the night with one added detail -- He told me that was the night MCA's Chairman gave him his walking papers. No wonder Leste seemed p*ssed that night and Slash was right there propping him up.

Needless to say, they ALL kicked major a*s. Shoulda kept better track of Gin Gypsy, though!
