Caption This Photo: Tom Cruise Glamified

Tom Cruise gets the cover spot for the June issue of W magazine. Cruise is, of course, the star of Rock of Ages, which hits theaters June 15. I'm pretty sure Rock of Ages is going to be epic for many, many reasons.

Regardless of personal opinions about this movie, there is no question, it will have tremendous positive impact toward our cause to Bring Back Glam!

Unfortunately, I have a bad feeling about this movie. Cruise's involvement is regrettable from the start, and I'm willing to lay down cash on the wager that it's going to be a complete flop.

Really - Tom Cruise as a glam metal rock star? Does anyone seriously believe this has potential?

EPIC FAIL!!
This movie does nothing positive for Hair Metal if anything it makes it look like a joke.
The only ones going to see this flick is fans of Glee and Clay Aiken.
Toms fake tattoos look like they were boughts at Hot Topic.

This is going to be a massive failure of epic proportions. This will just further make a joke out of our beloved hair-metal, NOT help bring it back to the masses. I love ya Metalboy, but you are %100 wrong man....

How about 'who's in the closet now' ? Of course, this looks like a Rob Halford promo shot from the mid 80s....

While I may disagree with Metalboy's presidential choice, I agree with him here. I think it will be a funny show with some good hair metal and I think younger kids will be exposed and maybe buy some downloads, or at least steal them.

I hate musicals so my opinion on this subject would be negative and biased. I personally hated the movie "Rockstar" because to me it made musicians from this era look like mentally challenged fools that just did lots of drugs, drank and screwed anything that moved. To me it did nothing to show they cared about their fans or the music they created and ultimately the music is the only part of either movie that will be worth anything.

I agree with above and I think this will be like Rock Star and be a bad stereo type of the genre and music. Guitar Hero and Rock Band did 10x for the genre than what this "movie" will do.

Tom Cruise? I thought that this was the cover of the new Adam Lambert record.

FYI, Sleaze Rocker is a genius!

Hahaha!!! Remember, folks, in the words of P.T. Barnum...

"There's no such thing as bad publicity."

At first I was hatin' on this movie (and the Broadway musical, but once I saw the POSITIVE (IMHO)exposure it's giving our Genre, I realize this franchise is nothing short of spectacular for advancing our cause.

Whatever you may think, this will do a ton of good for Glam Metal. And though I don't like Tom Cruise for his totally weird Church of Scientology ties, there's no denying, he's an excellent actor, especially when he does something out of his normal character range. Memba him as Less Grossman in "Tropic Thunder"? Or as the motivational speaker in "Magnolia"? I rest my case.

Funny, though, as KixChix notes about the airbrushing, I was talking' to my cab driver yesterday on my way to the airport to hop on a plane heading for M3, I realized they most assuredly went through every frame of the movie and CGI'd out his wrinkles and smoothed his face.

They do it to everybody in post production.

Come to think of it, I need me some of that!

p.s. Very funny comments, Sleazerocker. And Chris, I, too, thought the same thing regarding Cruise channeling Adam Lambert for the movie poster shot. Makes me think, too, how they probably provided a lot of Hair Metal video to the actors for review to help them get into character. Longhairedrocker is correct that "Rockstar" sucked! Bad script. Bad directing. Bad casting. And even worse, bad acting. And I wholesteelheartedly agree with Scott Whitt is also right. There is no doubt, "Rock Band" and "Guitar Hero" have done wonders to Bring Zback Glam!
