Were These Two Poison Videos Shot The Same Day?

These videos have the same stage backdrop. Were these clips shot in the same day?

Yes. Mostly.

This is the stage set they used for the Flesh & Blood tour in 1990-91. The videos weren't shot on tour, but rather most of the footage was filmed prior to the tour starting - I think in the rehearsal space. They then released Unskinny Bop as the first single off (the album) Flesh & Blood, basically around the time the tour kicked off. Somewhere I have a whole bunch of behind-the-scenes photos of this video shoot. It was always my favorite collection of Poison pics.

Sacrifice was the fifth (and last) single off that album, released in the summer of 1991 (I think the tour had actually wound up by that point). In any case, the end of the tour was a bit acrimonious, and CC famously got kicked out of the band after they appeared on the MTV Video Music Awards that year. It's probably understandable that they just recycled old footage in order to pull together this video, rather than locking the band together in a film studio again. They were already at a stage of getting into fist fights with one another.

... And the fact that I remember all this stuff 20 years later just proves that I was paying WAY too much attention at the time. Very important tour for me, and my first ever rock concert (the same night Steve Clark died, coincidentally enough). How did that anniversary slip by unnoticed?

Kiki Chrome! My long lost LOVE! Welcome back! Where the h*ll ya been?! How are our kidz? Just kiddin'. Sure do miss ya over here! Would LOVE to know your "Best of 2012" list!

Regarding Poison bangin' out the videos. Infighting or not, it really is a shame when one looks at how creative the "Talk Dirty To Me" an "I Want Action" videos and some of their others are that they couldn't realize at the time the opportunity they missed to be a little more adventurous.

And how come we can't get Poison to make a new album?! Can you please reach out to them? Maybe we should start a petition!

And I sure do wish you would stick around!

Sorry, man. I have three jobs (soon to be four jobs). It doesn't leave a lot of time for interneting.

And I'm not going to start a petition for something like that. It wouldn't bother me if they never put out another album. It wouldn't bother me if they put out an album of experimental jazz, or a rap album, or a spoken word album with Lou Reed. I try not to have that sort of relationship with anyone. Once again, I support their freedom of choice and am simply grateful for the positive impact they have had on my life.

But I've said all that before. No point getting on the internet and saying it all again.

Metalboy...what is your top ten of 2012?
January 10, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBrian L
it looks like they were. poison lives on!!!!
January 10, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterdj
Most likely were. Alot of bands did that back in the day to save money.
January 10, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJeff
Yeah, back in the day, the bands often had to put up the bux to make their videos, not the record companies.

That said, you don't need money to make cool videos. What you need is imagination. Poison had it in the beginning but lost it by the time "Unskinny Bop" rolled around.

Originally, they sort of messed with Commercial Pop Metal Accessibility, punking out on it all the way. Once they made it, they went too autopilot. Bangin' out two vids in the same day is the lazy way of doing it!

Kiki -- Okay! Okay! How about at least giving us your Top 10 of 2012?!

Bri L, I already listed my "Best of 2012" in Comments under Al's Post on the subject, "Top 10 of 2012 -- The Editor's Take" but I'm glad you asked because I have changed my mind and added and subtracted bands from my list so many times based on the suggestions of other BBG! editors, staff and readers. It's really changed and for the better!

I will post them here in a little bit.

Ok Metalboy. Are u on Facebook.
January 10, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBrian L
Nah, Bri! Metalboy! flies under the radar. Never joined it and now I'm glad I didn't what with their being in cahoots with the government and corporations.

I gotta put that list together. Should be in a little bit. Probably one or two of yours are on it, I believe.

Okay, Brian L., as per your request... Glad you looked into Foxy Shazam, Metalboy!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKenny Ozz
Metalboy, NO SLASH or ADLER in your Top Lists of 2012? Surprising.

Now onto this topic....WOW, i love me some Flesh and Blood!! Too bad Poison refuses to play the title song in their sets. Yeah, yeah, yeah, i know, dead issue.

Happy New Year BBGers

Kari! Forgot Adler! You're right about them. I'd at least put them as an honorable mention, if not on the actual list. Personally, I can do without Slash. That album bores me to tears and I find Myles Kennedy quite annoying.

Kenny O! Yeah, Bro! That Foxy Shazam album is a masterpiece! Thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
THANK GOD that I am not the only one who cant stand Myles Kennedy!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKenny Ozz
Myles Kennedy is the epitome of mediocrity!

Totally GENEROCK!

And the fact he had to have his name on the cover of the album is chickensh*t! I mean, how come the other employees who play on it can't have their names on it, too!

The band is SLASH!

And that's the ONLY name that needs to appear on the cover!

Metalboy! Has spoken!
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
Kenny O! You should try to make it to M3 this year, that is if the line-up is any good. I hear all the gang's is comin', so it will be a great opportunity for all of us to celebrate.
January 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
I might come. I went to years 2 and 4.
