Behold The Show Of My Dreams

I really want to attend this show - the Ohio Metalfest! My husband isn't to keen on the idea, but there's so many bands I love all wrapped into one day... it's just too good to pass up!

I have to agree with your husband on this one Allyson.

Put me down on your hubby's side also Ally. Something tells me that arena will pretty much end up being one big, puke filled, mosh pit. Plus there really isn't a band in that entire lineup that I'd personally pay to see. But if that's (nu metal) your cup of tea,go for it,because I'm sure it'd be a blast.

I would not go either. I'm sure all will have fun though

Ha Ha. Good one.

siding with your husband..thought you loved GLAM! (on a side note, my brother Colin played drums with All That Remains so that's the only band I remotely know)

@Jimbo - it is possible for people to like more than one genre of music!

My husband isn't keen on the idea because the show is in Cleveland on a Sunday - not because of the bands. It would be a 3 hour drive each way for us. - Allyson

And yes, I love Glam and I also really love metalcore. And bluegrass too for that matter... diversity folks.

Agreed Allyson. My iPod has everything from Johnny Cash to Slayer on it. Could care less what genre a song is classified as.If its good,it's good in my book.

This looks awesome! Asking Alexandria and I See Stars in the same show would be phenomenal.

Diversity is one thing, but this is, with the exceptions of Sevendust & Sepultura, a collection of the worst crapbands on the planet.

Haha lots of old people reading this blog I guess (old being a frame of mind; stuck in your ways).

I liked Tigertailz and Tuff back in the day as much as the next guy, but ALWAYS discovering new sounds, and always checking out live music regardless of 'genre' or what year the act got their break.

I never miss Tesla or Cinderella live - same goes for Mastodon, Deftones, Killswitch Engage, Clutch, Machine Head and Trivium.

A good band is a good band.

allyson: if your husband doesn't want to go, then go yourself if you can make it happen. As you wrote in the narrative, "I really want to go...it's just too good to pass up." If you go solo or with a friend, it just might be a win-win for both you and your husband.

I'm gonna have to side with the majority here. I like a lot of diverse stuff, but I wouldnt go to this if you paid me. Total yawn-fest.

Bryon, not knockin' anyones choice in music as I love most, but this site is called 'BRING BACK GLAM,,its a glam site, not Nu-Metal site..90% of these bands have the singer doing the Grover impression.

Yes, "a good band is a good band".

Sadly, there weren't any "good bands" in that lineup.

Just a batch of detuned crap w/ "singers" impersonating Cookie Monster.

And like Jimbo said, its a glam site, not Nu-Metal site.

To subject a readership expecting glam stuff to nu-metal hacks like Asking Alexandria & barband shit like 7Mary3 is a disservice to those that actually provide page hits.

well im a pretty diverse metalhead. i like everything from sabbath to the foo fighters to lamb of god, to some of asking alexandria and black veil brides, yes i do love glam, and theres a lot of new shit thats just phenomenal. wish people were more open minded like you allyson, but no disrespect to anybody. that list is incredible, all that remains and unearth kick ass. id love to see asking alexandria, im just not fond of the techno they have.

i see stars is okay too, and ive always loved sevendust.

**Rolls Eyes**

The word 'Nu-metal' was coined in the late 90's / early '00s, and given to bands like Coal Chamber, Korn and Linkin Park.
The only act on this bill of that era is Sevendust, and calling them Nu-metal is akin to calling Tesla a 'hair band'.

Maybe go back 10-15 years and find someone to complain to about 'detuned guitars'. Most of the bands on the bill in question tune to A-440 and play their Jackson guitars just below the chin.

@Allyson - can you PLEASE stop blogging about 'barband shit' per Jimbo and Ace's request? Let's get back to discussing blockbuster acts like Enuff Z'Nuff, Bulletboys and Ronnie Lee Keel. Otherwise, I think it is only fair that you refund us all the full price of our site membership.

Mike. It wasn't about "price". it's about "truth in advertising", While your or I, as a reader don't pay in cash, page hits do count for something in assessing how the site is paid by those ads you see.

Musically, if you are a musician, (and I doubt that). your ability to assess tuning is dreadfully off. Sepultura? Started their career in standard E tuning & by the time they recorded "Roots", they detuned to "Drop B".... (That's about 5 steps or frets of de-tuning)

Asskissing Alexandria are tuning to "drop C"

All That Remains typically also play in "drop C"

Sevendust are all over the place... "Drop C", "Drop B" & "Drop A".

So far, you're 0 for 4. I'm just going to dismiss the rest of what you said, & save time. Not trying to be an asshole, but you are 100% incorrect & missing the point.

'The Point' is that this as Allyson's blog, she can post about whatever she finds interesting or exciting. You have the choice to read the posts or not.

I don't give two shits about The Babys reuniting, so I skip those posts rather than put energy into bitching about them... Life really is too short.

'Glam' is a subjective word anyways.
Is T-Rex more glam than Ratt? What about Bowie? Tigertailz? The Sweet? Sea Hags?

Times change, music evolves and so does image... I can assume that Allyson finds Asking Alexandria somewhat relevant to the topic given that they have a 'glammier' image than most of their piers:
