Happy Holidays from David Lee Roth

Old Diamond Dave offers up a new track, just in time for the holiday season. Good times.

Wtf? Dave channeling Bob Dylan & plagiarizing Trader Joes logo? Glad all is well in DLR land.

Kix Chix nailed it and I'll take it one step further... LOW BUDGET, which in itself isn't a bad thing. You've just got to come up with something SUPER clever to make it work. And this doesn't. This reeks of Roth left to his own ideas. Or should I say "bereft". Where's Waldo?

Lemmy-damn! This is awful, and I usually give roth much leeway. I was cringing throughout.

Funniest part to me is that DLR doesn't give a s&#t what anyone of you thinks about it. So there's that.

Cute but I like Steel Panther's Stocking Song way better.

I'm with JAT on this one. It's just DLR screwing around and having a good time. Lighten up people.

He's got more than one good song, Badland. But this isn't one of them.

Hey, Bob... And I'm just screwing around having a good time, so you need to lighten up!

And JAT... Great thing is, I don't give a sh*t what DLR or YOU think about what I have to say, especially when I'm calling out a case of him mailing it in instead of doing something on par with his true talents.

THAT would be a real Holiday gift. This latest foray into music and video is a lame excuse for what he's truly capable of.

And still, Nothing approaching what A full original lineup of VanHalen just might still be capable of.

Just Dave being Dave. Like his show, it is always a question (sometimes of taste, often of trajectory) where he is going to land.

He lightens the mood even when he hits the wrong note.

We don't have to listen or like it, but the world will be a bit darker when we can't.

. . . oh, and lest I be a bit of stickler, that font/theme is as much Trader Vic's as it is Trader Joe's (with the former getting some inspiration from the latter).

And doesn't that all make a bit more sense, Dave-wise?
December 15, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterHim
Good call, HIM, as I have frequented both establishments, as I'm sure Dave has also, leading me to believe he is conscious of the similarity in the fonts as well, which would be precisely why he would use it! Oh, the irony!

Especially when you take into account Trader Vic's motif is Early American Tiki Bar.
December 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
Yes, Metalboy!, I do bet he has frequented both (the sight of him in a Joe's would be hilarious). Tiki drinks and low store-brand prices . . . but when does a clash of visuals deter Dave from his path in life?

And, so as to avoid charges of not being self-critical (in a comment about being a stickler no less), I seem to have gotten my "formers" and "latters" reversed in the last entry. Oh, my life for an editor.
