...And Now Bluegrass

Happy July 4th!

The other day we talked about the upcoming Motley Crue country tribute album. Now, there's a bluegrass cover of Dio's "Holy Diver." I'm actually a fan of bluegrass. Alison Krauss + Union Station is one of my favorite acts! But, this Dio cover is a little odd. The cover was done by Steve n' Seagulls.

And for fun, my favorite Alison Krauss + Union Station song, "Restless" from my top five favorite album of all time, Lonely Runs Both Ways.

Golly, wish I had too much time on my hands so I could hang in a barn with my friends and do stupid shit like this.

What am I doing wrong?

I like it. Different. I like the Hayseed Dixie metal tribute stuff as well. Better than an NSYNC rendition. At least it exposes more people to great artists.

Those guys do a pretty cool version of "The Trooper" as well.

Don't know if I'm much of a bluegrass fan overall, but do love AKUS.

This is obviously supposed to be some kind of joke. Trouble is, it's not funny.

JAT mentioned them... There's a long history of bluegrass'd rock tribute records by Hayseed Dixie. They've done brilliant covers of AC/DC, KISS, AEROSMITH & more.

Say what you want, but they're very talented musicians. As Ace (and anybody else that plays a stringed instrument) will attest, bluegrass isn't the easiest of genre's to master. The dexterity involved is pretty wicked.

Bluegrass may not be the easiest thing to play, but aside from The Foggy Mountain Boys or The Seldom Scene, etc., the only thing that's less boring than listening to it is watching the kind that grows in Kentucky.

I tend to agree, mb. and, as posted recently, the intent of bluegrass, especially hillbilly bluegrass, (these days) is not to open old wounds. Unfortunately, it must be played sometimes, 'cause the youngins haven't heard dees orchastrations before. just tryin' me best. thata be all.

But I agree. It does get BORING!

The intro to 'ain't that the way life goes' starts and I sing instead, 'I can go from beverly hills to hillbilly in a nanosecond". Ain't that the way our life goes? Funny, noone knows.
