Let's Talk About Evelyn

Who knows anything about rare Italian band Evelyn? I think they are an early 90s act... and that's literally all I've got. There's a couple uploads of their tunes on YouTube. Looks promising and really rare Glam. Any input?

Hard rock band from Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige formed in 1982. After two demos the band released their self titled ep in 1996, recorded at Powerplay Studio Munich in ’89/90 and produced by the band. This mini album is hard to be found in nowdays but worth a place to any collection. The songs are powerful with attitude and good production. My only objection is the singer’s voice that will fit better to a glam band.

To give you an idea just how rare this EP is, there's one on Ebay right now for $129.00!

p.s. Tony! The singer's voice is what's great about this band AND the EP. And if it sounds Glam to you, all the better, as this is a site very much devoted to Glam Metal!

I think the term "glam" gets thrown around alot here and in my opinion, it doesn't always fit. This band definitely has an 80's hard rock sound, but there's nothing "glam" about their image.

Never, Ever heard of them.
I don't think there's anything glam about them, either.
They sound more AOR/PopMetal Lite, than anything.

Not my review, just posted from another site for Allyson's information - I should have said so.

Hey, Tony... No harm, no fowl, haha!! And to Ace and Jason... Hey man, I would categorize them as 80's Hard Rock, or as Ace so distinctly categorizes them as "AOR/Pop Metal Lite" as well.

But as far as any comments as to whether the singer sounds Glam, I was merely stating that this observation (from another site) is appropriate here as THIS site is predominantly Glam Metal in focus.

And, Ace, remember, it doesn't matter if you've never heard of them... As you know better than anyone having "lived it" on The Strip, there were so many great bands from this era who never got signed, many of which sounding as good or better than those who did, not that these guys necessarily fall into that category.

Still, there are several reasons why an original press of this CD is going for 140 smackers on the elite 80's Hard Rock & Metal Collectibles Market... (1) It's rarity, (2) The, shall we say, "Unusual" cover art, and, last but not least, (3) It sounds pretty good!

p.s. As was common practice back in the day, I'm sure the main intention of the demo from which this CD came was to circulate it, probably in tape form, among the record companies and hand out to hot chicks. But as Ace would probably tell you, though it may have been a fairly clever ploy to get it to stand out on someone's desk by putting a 100-year-old woman on the cover (or strike up a conversation with a girl after the show -- cue: "Is that your Grandmother?", "No, it's my Girlfriend."), with a name like Evelyn, they probably should have dressed up like Poison for the cover shot and taken more advantage of the singer's voice, even if the scene was half over by 1990.
