Def Leppard Prepare Fall Release

At a recent concert, Def Leppard flashed the image below on the jumbotron - announcing their new album will hit stores in the fall. Def Lep always reminds me of summer - in fact, my summer never feels complete unless I see them live. I got my tickets for this summer's run the day (ok, the minute) they went on sale. Can't wait!

I wonder if it's even possible for them to make sure this is more "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" and less "Two Steps Behind". Guess we'll only know on that fateful day sometime this fall.

FYI - the forthcoming album is self-titled "Def Leppard"

Vivian Campbell says it's the best Leppard album in the 23 years he's been in the band.

Wait... "More "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" and less "Two Steps Behind"????

How about less ballads all around, & more Rock Brigade/Lady Strange/Wasted rockers instead?

Agree with Metalboy! and Ace on the song selection. "Me and My Wine" wouldn't hurt either!

But I can't help myself and need to make two observations. Highly anticipated?!!? I suppose hyperbole suits metal, so I give that a pass. But I also place exactly one grain of salt on Campbell's opinions re: DL's music. Granted, not entirely his fault (and even Clark had a bit to do with their decline before he passed). But since Campbell has been in the band, the quality has declined in trickling fits and roaring starts. Thus, a paradox: to best that time-frame wouldn't take much; but it would certainly take a lot from the DL of today.

I will be seeing them as well. Looking forward to it. And I will keep an open mind. Owe anther great band from my youth at least that much respect.

Hooks, Riffs, Licks & Solos. That's what made this band incredible BEFORE Campbell came on the scene. To HIM's point, the quantity of those key ingredients to Def Leppard's extraordinary success has diminished exponentially since Campbell joined.

That said, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt 'til the needle hits the record.
