New Enuff Z' Nuff Music!

Enuff Z'Nuff is back with some new music! "Rockabye Dreamland" is a new song from the upcoming album Clowns Lounge. That album will be out December 2.

Clowns Lounge is a collection of early demos that have been reworked. I'm kind of interested in this. I think Chip Z'Nuff is one of the best song writers, period. This excites me.

Fly Towards the Middle Michelle?!?

Repeat-ish Thing?!?

Is it me, or does this make you miss Vie (for all his demons and instability)? And what is up with the sound? It sounds like it is being projected out of a boom box with a blown speaker.

A quirky band that was occasionally catchy. A gifted guy stuck in that limbo that is rotating through new (and returning new) band members. Ace, is there a problem with Z'Nuff that put him in this sort of holding pattern once things with Vie broke down?

So spill it, Ace. What's the deal with this band?

One again, you were there, Ace! And with none other than Derek Frigo! What a MONSTER guitarist!

As I've mentioned here before, I was fortunate to see Enuff Z'Nuff fresh off their first album in 1989 at The Cat Club in NYC.

Their performance was dazzling with the songs "New Thing" and "Fly High Michelle" the standouts of the show, extraordinary examples of innovative songwriting, arrangements and sound.

It really was a clever formula -- Take The Beatles and put 'em through an 80's Hair Metal blender with a splash of rule breaking song structures and viola!... Platinum Paydirt!

It's just too bad they never came close to those two songs in anything they did after that. I admire Z'Nuff's tenacity especially in light of the two huge tragedies that happened, the death of Frigo from heroin and the crash and burn of Vie from the same.

Still, for that one brief moment, they captured magic and our hearts on MTV and in the clubs, a shining diamond that stood out from all the rest because of their original blend of Rock & Roll.

And if you want BADA*S in all caps check out Frigo in his previous incarnation in the band Le Mans performing one of my favorite tracks of all time below!...

gotta say, I like this a hell of a lot. so what that it sounds a little like Fly High Michelle. Fly High Michelle was a great song, and this is not bad either. MB!, to expand on your description, they were the beatles, distilled through a little Cheap Trick power pop gold, mixed with late 80s hair metal punch, with just a tiny touch of late 60s psychedelia in the chord structures. a very unique sound that I dug back then and still dig today.

Perfect description of their music, Bob!

Hey do you have that Le Mans album? Frigo sounds killer on that, too!

MB!, I have two Le Mans albums: On the streets from '83 and their self-titled record from '86. "don't Wanna work" got a fair amount of airplay on a couple local NJ rock radio stations.

Of course, Bob! What made me think you might not have it?, hahaha!!! -- The Le Mans Self Titled album from 1986... It all comes off like pure (and well done, I might add) AOR until the last track, when they finally get the balls out for "Sex, Guitars & Rock & Roll", which is completely BADA*S!!! Even the singer, a helluva singer, I might add, Peter Marrino sounds completely different, going into full hellion mode! This gem alone is worth the price of the album! God Bless Derek Frigo!

Holy SH*T, Bob! And Ace, for that matter! I just checked out that first Le Mans album, "On The Streets" and, OMMG! (Oh My Metal God!), Frigo really applied a scorched earth policy on that one with his guitar! The guy was an absolute METAL MONSTER!

Listen to it through and through, something you can do on YouTube, as the full album is up on it, free for all to hear... You'll come to hear who really supplied all those crazy song structures beyond just his incredible out there guitar sounds on Enuff Z'Nuff's first one.

Just as HIM requested, is there any way you could please spill the beans on this band, Ace?
