The Skid Row Reunion Inches Closer (Maybe)

Sebastian Bach is doing a press tour for his new book 18 and Life on Skid Row. During one of his interviews, he was, naturally, asked about a possible Skid Row reunion. Instead of demurring, this time Sebastian admitted his manager is talking to the manager of the Skids. As has been consistent with recent comments, once again Sebastian seemed keen on the idea of a reunion. But will Rachel Bolan and Dave Sabo go for it?  I suspect we'll see the reunion happen within the next 18 months and probably sooner. I do feel all the guys involved missed a big window: five years ago, this could have been huge. Now? I don't know. Thoughts?

Latest news flash (same as it ever was): Bach and those who work for him really want a reunion to happen. Those actually in the band nowadays? Not so much. Can't wait for Affuso to like this message!

Not sure how huge this ever would have been/ever will be if it were to happen. Perhaps a few choice slots (a few notches down) on the festival circuit. And, even if they did reunite and then did create a slam dunk "classic" sounding new album . . . well, then what? I mean, how much would a thing like that move these days?

Remember: Skid Row were never Metallica (who at least have been limping along on a someone consistent basis all these years). They were the band you chose to open for you if you were one of those bands. Now, Skid Row is a headliner. But oh what headlining spots! And Bach has been a favorite of Axl in years past, and had some success (down the slot list, granted) at festivals. So, again, what would really be gained?

The larger issue is this: what does Micheal Sweet think? I kid.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Bach had a tendency to lie and/or exaggerate.

When hell freezes over but now, with climate change, maybe it could actually happen.

Contrary to other's opinions, I think it would have decent results... One of the top row headliners at festivals and playing at joints like Hard Rock Café, etc.

When I was younger I never understood the personality conflicts that killed bands - as I got older I can now see how some relationships just are not worth the hassle. So I can understand completely if this never happens. Bach is a great singer but I don't know if I could take spending a large amount of time with him without one of us going to jail.

Hmmmmm...interesting. I read Doc McGhee was involved on the Skid side. I see them on tour with KISS in 2017-2018

At this point, what difference does it make?

Well, Oper8n, those of us who would like to hear the classic line-up point blank live would have the opportunity to do so.

I know some people on here think Bach's voice is shot but he's still got pipes and can sing his a*s off. It may be a little rougher busy it's still plenty loud and b*lsy! I believe they would totally kicka*s!

Like the saying goes, the whole is equal to the sum of it's parts. Without each other, they're just so-so. Together, they kill it!

I'm in the camp of it'll probably happen, but what's the definition of "huge"? They'll go out on tour, and either land a killer support slot (GNR), be part of some kind of a summer triple bill/play festivals, or play theaters as headliner like Tesla is doing. Sure I'd go see them if they are in the neighborhood, and since I've never seen this original lineup I will thoroughly enjoy it!

Negative times a positive is a negative

I guess it all boils down to the one constant in life. Money talks. Motley pretty much despised each other for decades, but still kept it together for 2 hours a night. I don't think they did it for the love of the music and the fans. Same for Axl and Slash, The Eagles, Mick and Keith at various times, Tyler and Perry for most of the time. Stacks-O-Benjamin's make people put up with a lot of fecal matter. So I guess it's quite possible that Bolan and Snake could tolerate Baz for a summer tour, and say with a straight face that it's "all in the name of the fans", like all of the aforementioned do.

Though I pretty much agree with you, Gary, I saw point blank, Motlëy Crüe more than getting along on stage in recent years.

Money will motivate people but I also think they forget how much they despise each other when the decibels start blowing the roof off the place and the crowd is standing on their seats going wild.

Yeah, there's a reason performers are known as an "act", but it's pretty hard to hide if someone isn't enjoying themselves.

Now, I've seen Vince Neil solo a few times where he was clearly phoning it in and acting like a jerk, but were those only crocodile tears he was crying during their last show?

Was he crying only over the ridiculous amount of money he won't be making anymore as part of the Crüe?

Or were those real tears because, even after all the b.s. and "hatred" toward each other, he knew they're actually going to miss bringing to life what they created together.

Good points Metalboy. I guess when the finality of it all hits, you're able to move past the petty 8th grade drama and look at the big picture (i.e. what you were able to accomplish starting with nothing, and all the great times you had getting there) I could be wrong, (I'm a specialist when it comes to that), but it seems that as soon as a little success and money starts to roll in, the drama comes right next to it when it comes to bands. Egos expand exponentially. Everyone suddenly thinks they're the reason for it. You've got someone in your ear whispering just those sentiments. I always said back in my playing days that being in a band was like being freaking married to 4 other guys. Lol. Shit happens, but if you're able to move past it,good things just may happen.
