The Grammy Awards Are Tonight... In Case You Care

The Grammy Awards are tonight. The show will be filled with pop and country music. We do know that there will be a tribute to Lemmy. There will be one to David Bowie too. Still, I don't expect much from the show.
Here's the nominees for Best Metal Performance. I hope Sevendust wins.

"Identity"
August Burns Red

Label: Fearless Records

"Cirice"

Ghost

Label: Loma Vista Recordings

"512"

Lamb Of God

Track from: VII: Sturm Und Drang

Label: Epic Records

"Thank You"

Sevendust
Label: 7Bros Records

Here's a video about the Album of the Year nominees.

So much great metal released across the globe last year, and these are the nominees?

Grammys are a huge waste of time.

Last year Priest wasn't nominated. No Maiden this year. And no Avantasia, Primal Fear, Magnus Karlsson, Stratovarius or Jorn Lande. So much better metal out there this year.

What a joke.

Nope. Didn't care. Watched Kung fu panda 2 with the kids instead.

Let's hope Mick Mars wins Best Metal Performance next year.

I know I'm only basing that on 2 teasers but just those 2 teasers combined sound better than any of the crap nominated, Sevendust included!

It was great to see Rock & Roll finally back in the spotlight but unfortunate it was on the backs of the deceased. Though AC/DC kicking off last year's show was pretty mind blowing having two Rock & Roll tributes embedded into the show, right or wrong, seemed a little more impactful in some ways.

I do agree with some of the mumblings in the press, however, that it was crass of Hollywood Vampires to open with one of their own songs in their tribute to Lemmy. It would have been far classier and way more notable had they convinced themselves to strictly pay tribute to him.

I get Lemmy influenced them... I get they might not want to be pigeonholed as a glorified cover band since most of their album is covers but here they should have realized keeping it all about Lemmy was the right thing to do.

Who won the best metal performance? I hope Lamb Of God did, they're such a killer live band. Glad to see rock and metal in the spotlight somehow.

DJ! "Cirice" by Ghost is the winner. Here is a question for you... Is that any good?

Kudos to Ghost. They are a fun take on legends like BOC, inserting a bit of cheesy drama into otherwise solid song-writing. And they bring the show when they perform live.

Those highlights are hilarious. Looks like they didn't even know who (at the 30 sec mark) won! It looked like a guy who stepped out of an Airborne concert. Kidding. That was the producer, Klas Åhlund ("I may not always produce metal, but when I do, I produce Ghost").

Not only that, the left side of the auditorium look like it was evacuated in case something important exploded.

Putting aside the Solid Gold lead-in music, Papa III was a master of brevity. He really has done well by those he replaced.

They certainly nailed the look of a late-70s/early-80s horror film with director Robert Schober. It is very Carrie-meets-grade school. It has the look of one of Ti West's films.

As I keep saying, they are a great mix of humor, artistry, and nostalgia. Nice to see them getting their due.
