Another Concert Tragedy

At least 58 are dead and more than 500+ hurt after an overnight shooting in Las Vegas. The shooting happened during the Route 91 Harvest Country Festival, and Jason Aldean was performing. Police say suspect Stephen Paddock shot people from a room on the 32nd floor of Mandaly Bay.

This situation is a little different from the terror attacks during the Eagles of Death Metal and Ariana Grande concerts in Europe. This was an open air event where the shooter basically opened up a machine gun over top the music fans. This is especially hard to see because the people had no where to go to take cover except to run... and of course, how do you know where to run when you don't know where the shooter is even staged?

Police did breach the room where Paddock was apparently holed up shooting.

So where does this leave us? These attacks are becoming more brazen. Remember, always look for an escape route whenever you go into a concert venue - no matter if it's a tiny club or giant open air event. Protect yourself.

I'm a hunter. Grew up in gun country. No problem with the 2nd amendment. Now, that being said, can I ask, (and please excuse my language), who in the fuck needs a semi-automatic weapon? They are used for one thing and one thing only. Killing humans. That is their sole fuckng purpose. You're not going to hunt with them. You're not going target shooting with them. You're not shooting blue rocks (clay pigeons) with them. Yet any douche lord with money can get one tomorrow. Welcome to 2017 in America. Where weed is illegal in about half our states, but you can buy a semi-automatic weapon in each and every one of them......🙄

And now, from Country Star, Caleb Keeter, who was there:

He’s right! It’s time, people!

ain't gonna happen, mb. politicians are already on television saying, "now is not the time to talk about it". (insert me gagging). I've tried for years to simply get my wife's family to lean just a little to the left on this position; just asking for a small inch- even after columbine, aurora, newtown and countless other senseless tragedies. they've never conceded one iota in the 30 years I've known them. In fact, they see me as a pariah.

I get the same lines from them for 30 years and they are still posting the same mantras on facebook: guns don't kill people..., 2nd amendment rights...just enforce current laws...and on and on and on and on and on. A few years ago, I even stopped going to 'family" events, because it just wasn't fun for me anymore to be the lone wolf attacked by a mob of gun-toting "experts" about everything that is right and wrong with our Country.

The most ironic thing is in the State in which I live, you have to pass a background check which includes:

NICS;
PSP’s criminal history records;
PSP’s juvenile delinquency records;
PSP’s mental health records;
PSP’s protection from abuse file (see the Pennsylvania Domestic Violence and Firearms section); and
PSP’s wanted/missing person file

While this is a good measure, you must also sign an affidavit that you don't have a drug or alcohol problem despite not having a criminal arrest or conviction.

Trust me...almost everyone I know who has a gun permit has an alcohol problem, despite never getting a DUI/DWI. So perhaps the laws should be "enforced" and people shouldn't lie on their applications. When I mentioned this one time...boy did I receive a verbal lashing! Ain't ever gonna happen. Seriously, didn't vice president Cheney shoot his friend in the face while drinking and hunting? How the hell did he pass an initial clearance? Clearly he has a problem with alcohol.

NRA! NRA! NRA! NRA! NRA!

Oper8n,

Yes. I'm OK. Thanks for asking. I was right there, the night before. So this was very scarey.
*Nice to be able to even respond, since "someone" got a little pissy with something I said elsewhere & blocked me here. So that's why I've been silent. Petty little pissants doing petty little things.

Ace: Glad you're ok. And, don't worry about being banned here. It's happened to me a few times. Consider it your rock-n-roll badge on honor.

Thanx Fletch.
I was just ticked that it was for something that didn't even happen here.
Truly a little bitch move. Was a big whatever to me. I just lost journalistic respect for the perpetrator .
