Haters Be Damned

I'm a Nickelback fan and proud of it. The band has a new video for their song "The Betrayal (ACT III)" from the album Feed The Machine. Just click the video and listen to the song. It's heavy and delicious and one of the best new tracks I've heard all year, bar none.

Dilly, Dilly Bob !! Absolutely - they are called guilty pleasures for a reason. Nothing wrong with a little Nickelback rocking your speakers.

what thee aforementioned posters posted!

Nickelback was a little after my time. I don't hate them...I hardly know them. But what I do know about them...I like.

"De gustibus non est disputandum, or de gustibus non disputandum est," is a Latin maxim meaning "In matters of taste, there can be no disputes."

Oper8n, good call on "De gustibus non est disputandum." It is one of the philosophies by which I live my life these days. From the day I was born, all the way through my early 40s, I was very opinionated, especially about music; and I was so convinced that my opinions were the only right ones. It is only as I've gotten older that I realize that, while it's fine to have strong opinions about music, mine are no more, or less valid than someone else's. I'll still express my opinion, and explain why I have that opinion, but most of the time I remember to qualify it by pointing out that it is merely mine. It makes for less spirited discussions, but on the flipside, my blood pressure is a lot lower. :)

I do not subscribe to "guilty pleasures". I like what I like and feel absolutely no guilt over it. I like some crap, and I know it, but I sure as hell don't feel any guilt over it. If everybody liked the same things, imagine how boring and homogeneous life would be.

Like what you like, but more importantly own it with no apologies.

Mb posts: "Except “Animal”, BK!"

I'm sorry, but IMHO, you lose some credibility when you post comments like this. I always thought you were above this type of pettiness.

I like best that which suits me; I give what suits others to themselves. I will quarrel with those who question the former, just as I will question the latter about the same. Taste is personal, opinions moreso. A spirited joust or two does no harm so long as it remains harmless.
