Hurricane Irma Playlist

For the last week, we've watched as Hurricane Irma blasted Caribbean island after island, leaving utter destruction in her path. Today, she's slamming Florida.

Hurricanes fascinate me. I say that as a landlocked Ohioan who has never experienced a hurricane first hand. When I say fascinate, I mean I'm intrigued by the forecasting process, the satellite views, the different models: all of it. I'm always horrified to see the destruction left behind. So many people have their lives altered by hurricanes and it is heartbreaking to see. Texans are still reeling from Hurricane Harvey and the extreme flooding and now Irma is making a mess in the Sunshine State. So, that said we need a little levity. For many, including myself, music can really help get through bad times. It also makes the good times better! Without further adieu, here's a hurricane playlist - we're all in this together. And please add your suggestions to the comments!

Obligatory: "Rock You Like A Hurricane" - Scorpions

"Rainbow In The Dark" - Dio

"After The Rain" - Nelson

"Ride The Lightning" - Metallica

"When The Lightning Strikes" - Saxon

"Riding The Storm Out" - REO Speedwagon

"Hurricane" - Kings X

"Riders On The Storm" - The Doors

"Here Comes the Rain Again" - The Eurythmics

(Extra Credit!) "Irma's Song" - Irma Thomas

Now, here's some ways that you can help victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

The Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund of Houston’s mayor, Sylvester Turner, which is administered by the Greater Houston Community Foundation.

Houston Food Bank and the Food Bank of Corpus Christi are asking for donations.

Can I suggest "Like A Hurricane" from Neil Young also? I drove 600 miles up the coast from Myrtle Beach SC to my hometown,"The Asspit of America", here in NE Penna. There were literally 6 Florida license plates for every 10 cars. People seem to be listening after the devastation in Texas. Here's hoping everyone makes it our safely and there are no fatalities. Sadly, I doubt that however....

Damn, Ken! I've had all the Hurricane albums on CD since they came out and just listened "Messin' With The Hurricane" off the first one ... Frickin' KILLER!

p.s. The logo design and polarized photography of those first albums' cover art is awesome, too!!!

Correction: "Messin' With A Hurricane" is the correct title of the Hurricane song in question.
