I'm with ya BK. This is a far cry from "Back on the Bitch" or "hot Sex." Frontiers Music really neutered these guys, just like they do most bands.

Actually, there’s a great song buried inside this tune. The opening riff, words and chorus are all pretty generic and modern rockish, but around 3/4 of the way through, they really start to jam with killer guitar solos and an awesome hook that could have been the bones from which to make a truly rockin’ tune.

Which sorta proves what you’re saying, Bob, about Frontiers. If the producer truly knew what he was doing, he would have turned the song inside out and ditched the hookless stuff and built the song on the more rockin’ part.

So, if you really think about it, you’re right, Bob, but let me put it this way ... Thank The Metal Gods for Frontiers for giving bands like Spread Eagle a platform to keep Hard Rock alive but the trick is not just to keep it alive but to ensure the music is as good or better than the music they were making in their heyday.

One example of a band achieving success by signing with Frontiers without sacrificing artistic integrity is KIX. Their comeback album, “Rock Your Face Off” is very close to being right up there with their best stuff from back in the day.

I DO THINK the video is ABSOLUTELY superb, though. What better location to film than a Go-Cart track, something I haven’t really seen before. And film they did.

The director did a h*lluva job capturing the band members racing around the track with plenty of shots from a camera car inside the race capturing the lead vocalist singing while driving his go-cart.

The new KIX album was gar-bage as well. Agree to disagree and this is coming from someone that has all the other KIX catalog.

Metalboy!, my good sir, thank you for describing what happens in the video. that does sound like it would be cool to look at. Your point is well-taken about the label in general, and the Kix comeback in particular. I would say that Frontiers has also largely let L.A. Guns do their sound without too much interference.

Agreed, Bob! Disagreed, BK! But that’s what makes the BBG! World go around!

I'm just in to say that "Rock Your Face Off" from Kix is a great record. It was shocking. The "new" bass player got together with the same writers that the "old" songwriter bass player did and crafted a classic Kix album. 4 stars. One of the best things Frontiers ever released.

That is ironic that KIX’s new bass player worked with Purnell’s old writing team. And indeed, Sparky, “Rock Your Face Off” does just that!
