'Rolling 7s"

I'm on vacation! For the next several days, I'll be enjoying some warm beach weather while the rest of Ohio remains frozen. Over the next week or so, I'll be sharing a video of a song I really like. I hope you dig these picks, too. The choices won't all be glam, but they will be fun!

Today I give you Dirty Honey and "Rolling 7s"

Video straight outta 1989. Cool. Very good song. Seems Dirty Honey are paying homage to Tora Tora (I know. They’ve never heard of them), who were paying homage to ..... The beat goes on

Love Dirty Honey! My new fave of faves!

p.s. I did, JCD, even today, February 3rd, but back on now. In the words of DIO, “It’s only a mystery ...”

I was in the process of previewing the post I had just penned for the Dirty Honey show I had seen a week ago when the site havoc started and lost everything that I had written. It was a couple of paragraphs and I will hit the highlights here. The band was extremely tight and obviously well rehearsed, the singer hit all of the high notes with no struggle whatsoever and sounded great. They played two new tunes that sounded stronger than anything on the e.p. They played 11 songs and the set duration was about 70-80 minutes so they had a bit of filler in the way of very forgettable bass, guitar and drum solos. All in all a very strong showing for a band on their first headlining tour but I'll admit I enjoyed the opener (the Amazons) as much if not more than D.H. Check them out, it was an odd pairing of the two bands. They are a British alternative(ish) band that I would liken to maybe The Verve with lots of guitar and a ton of energy.

This was one of my favorites released last year and I still play it, can't get enough of these guys! Classic sounding without being too derivative, Heartbreaker is my personal favorite.

Thanks for the brief review, JCD. Wish your longer review didn't get jettisoned.

I checked out The Amazons. I can see how they might be an odd fit with Dirty Honey. But certain songs, like "In My Mind," have enough of a crossover sound that I can see the bands fitting together somewhat. Thanks for the suggestion. Love getting turned on to new bands.
