Remember When I Said 'Keep An Eye On Coachella?'

Welp, keep watching.

Update. Coachella in April is canceled.

i’m sure it’s like sXsw, when corporate sponsorship backs away because they don’t want to be associated with an outbreak, there’s no money to pay the bands. i get it, but it sucks. also heard pearl jam canceled some dates. big events will suffer this spring for sure.

How about these stadium tours ?? When does that become not kosher ?? Lot of tickets and $$ have been sold for these.

I was also thinking about the summer tours. I'm hoping this whole thing will mostly be over in a few months, sometimes the change of seasons is a natural ending of the virus expanding.

Hoping the Crue Stadium Tour and the Rammstein Stadium Tour still happen as I'm really looking forward to them.

Also curious if this keeps going if the biggest event in my hometown - the Kentucky Derby - is at risk? It's 170K people, outdoors, on May 2nd. Fingers crossed.

All of that is well and good, but the real question is: will the Ratt, Keifer, etc., etc., tour of casinos and such get cancelled? Well, will it?!?! I love me some scabs, even if I only pick a few each year.

I'm just joking everyone. But I suspect more events will be cancelled and/or restricted as the days roll on. University athletic events? Check. The NBA? Check. Tennis events? Check. The XFL. Oh wait, that last one has nothing to do with COVID-19.

Sure, some of it is clear corporate calculation. And some of it is actual concern. I know not everyone thinks this is something to worry about. And I won't soapbox my previous comments. I am just saying . . . most will be fine with this, others won't. And to think you are well and good is one thing. Giving it to another person who isn't so lucky is another. Again, caution mixed with common sense (which was hard to type, as the tissue-boxes on my hands make typing difficult). Allyons's initial post still rings true.

And to think: I was looking forward to going to Las Vegas, catching the buffet at the Bellagio, and then going to see DLR in a cramped venue like the HoB. What's not to like?

I'm lucky though. I bought some cute baby Chinese bats on Amazon to look after. They are so small. They love to curl up on your lap, making these little coughing sounds. Makes me laugh every time!!!

Whacker than ever, HIM! ...

“I love me some scabs, even if I only pick a few a year.”

Oh, the Comedy ...

And especially at the end when we witness you finally make that turn we’ve all been waiting for from semi-lucid to the truly Gonzo commentor (wait, is that a word? It is NOW!!!) we sense has been inside you all along.

Now, onto the topic at hand ...

Let’s just think about the last time Coachella was any good ... Spotty, at best, after The Damned and Guns N’ Roses joined by Angus Young all wound up on the same bill only a mere four years ago.

Since then, it’s just been great pop and alternative filling the bill since until what was supposed to be just now when Ozzy was set to be a headliner. His new album, “Ordinary Man”, rocks heavily on certain tracks such as his pair of “duets” with Post Malone, etc.

How cool would it have been to see Ozzy and Malone sharing the stage to belt out “It’s A Rage” ... alas, it will be a couple more months of uncertainty and cancellations until the warm weather of Summer boils it out of us.

Let us pray to The Metal Godz things get completely better way before that ...

If I was Gonzo, that would be great Metalboy! Loved me some Hunter back in the day His missives in Rolling Stone were only bettered by the steady and snarky voice of PJ O'Rourke!

I, too, hope that the warmer months bring some return to normalcy. In fact, the idea of spending a night out with my friends, on the lawn at Shoreline, enjoying a so-so show makes me smile right now.

I hope everyone is healthy and happy. Focus on the future, but take care of yourselves today.
