Check Out The New Night Ranger Video

Another short post today while I continue to enjoy a few days off working.

Night Ranger has a new video out this week. The clip is for the track "Knock Knock Never Stop." Check it out.

Not great, but not horrible.

I kinda liked it. It's no "Call My Name" but it'll do.

I agree with The Cheap Seats wholeheartedly.

I can honestly say I'm not a huge Night Ranger fan. They have a couple good songs though. Without a doubt.

Rock!Rock! Til Ya Drop! Rock! Rock! Never Stop!

I kinda think Def Leppard are gonna want their pentameter back.

Oddly enough, I kind of like it.

You beat me to it, Ace. Well done.

Night Ranger are good for a summer package show. They were great last summer on tour opening for Skynyrd and Bad Co. More hard rock/AOR than metal. But they have a few songs that can get stuck in your braincase for a bit.

Yet another by-the-numbers guilty pleasure added to their mediocre, yet irresistibly catchy, canon of Cheese Metal.

This huge monument to AOR, the so-called Night Ranger, in the final analysis, is such a waste of Brad Gillis' talent.

Catchy chorus,no doubt. Would be an AOR top 10 if AOR radio actually existed and played something different than the same 50 songs ad nauseum. Metalboy is correct about Brad Gillis IMO. The guy is a monster guitarist. Gillis is a master with a whammy bar. Some of the shit he's played, especially in his stint with Ozzy, absolutely floored me. The solo in "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" is still one of my all time favorites.

While I am not sure if Gillis acts as though he is wasting his time in Night Ranger, Metalboy! and Gary are spot on. When I found out that was Gillis on _Speak of the Devil_, I was hooked. The guy is amazing.

Maybe, with NR, the sum isn't always equal to the parts. Blades is also very talented, for example.

I wasn't talking about how Gillis acts, HIM.

I'm simply saying his talent surpasses the mediocre mentality enabled by Blades, who I don't blame, as he strikes me as someone who could be the President and CEO of Mediocrity, Inc.

So much so, he's not even cognizant of it.

Gillis is doomed for a life creating and touring alongside a midget with mediocrity complex (think Solieri meets Dick Patton of "Eight is Enough"), where Blades has confabulated Night Ranger in his mind as The Greatest Rock Band ever, when it's nothing more than AOR sh*te, as even the guilty pleasures are horrendously obvious once the music AND laughter have stopped.

Hell, like so many ultra-talented guitarists, Gillis chose to ride along with one of the dumbest people in "Rock", when he could have thrown away the "Brad" and chromed his last name long ago, leaving Blades' mullet flapping in his vorteces.

I didn't know I touched a nerve, Metalboy! But it did bring out some of that classic Metalboy! wordsmithing. The Solieri comment ranks up their with your best.

I guess I just don't find Blades to be that bad or find Gillis's choice (what I meant by "act") to be that strange. Agree to disagree, I suppose (though you were willing enough to label some of the NR canon "irresistible" cheese earlier on, and I agree with you on that 100%).

You also struck gold with the observation that GILLIS would be a right proper name for a band (esp. from a visual standpoint, with the middle "LL" framed by two similar shaped letters in "G" and "S").

I really do love the passionate posts. They bring something out in your writing.
