In Which Jerry Cantrell And Duff McKagan Record Another Song Together

Singer and guitarist Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains fame teamed up with bassist Duff McKagan of Guns n' Roses for a new song called "I Want Blood." The song is off the Cantrell album of the same name. The album came out in October of 2024, so I am going to guess this will be the last "single" from it, but who knows. I think it is pretty catchy and nicely heavy. There's that Glam influence mixed with true metal, which I love.

You might recall Cantrell and McKagan recorded together previously for Duff's solo album called Lighthouse.

Another blurring of genre lines for sure. What do you think?

Duff McKagan has released a cover of David Bowie's classic "Heroes." McKagan will hit the road next week on tour to support his new solo album called Lighthouse. Official visualizer below:

'Fallen' Does Not Sound Like Duff McKagan

Duff McKagan released a solo album called Lighthouse a few months ago. The album doesn't necessarily sound as heavy as his other solo releases, and that is okay. Musicians should be able to experiment and change their sound whenever they want. Still, the ballad "Fallen" just doesn't sound like a Duff McKagan song at all to me. Maybe it's because I still have a hard time separating Duff's solo work from his Guns n'Roses stuff. I know I can't be the only one who feels that way. I will say "Fallen" is a sweet tribute to Duff's wife Susan.

I interviewed Duff a million years ago and I remember him gushing about her then so it seems like the duo really are a strong match and good for them. We need more of that strong love in this world!
