I met Mandy Lion several times. He seems like a very nice guy that really cares about his fans. Mandy seems to find very talented musicians. If he plays his cards right, he may bring his signature brand of music to the world.

Roy, regarding Mamby Pamby's knack for finding very talented musicians, you are indeed correct, sir! Too bad Mamby himself does not share their talent as he cannot sing his way out of a paper bag.

I actually had the amusing experience of determining that fact personally at the Troub back in the day prior to the release of WWIII first album. How could such a baffoon as Mamby get a major record contract? Read on...

Fun Fact: Upon release of the aforementioned WWIII "album", Joe Elliot, lead singer of Def Leotard, declared it "The Heaviest Album Ever Recorded". When you listen to it, that is a pretty laughable statement when you consider the crap Slayer and the like foist upon a gullible Metal Audience as actual music but which actually has to be some of the heaviest noise to ever be mistakenly classified as "Metal" or Music, for that matter.

In all reality, Mamby Loin is a complete and utter joke, a Black Sheep Austrian heir who decided to "lay" down roots in L.A. so he could do precisely just that -- snag chicks off The Strip in the 80's and Early 90's and get Mommy to bankroll the whole thing, including the record contract! And now, it looks like he's "mounting" a new campaign to relive his glory years.

To his credit, despite lacking any genuine "Cred" in terms of talent, however, I do believe he's a true believer in Rock and Roll -- that he is a true fan of great Rock and Roll -- because the actual music he creates with his cadre of ringer musicians, sans his dog ruffing vocals, is really quite good.

I also happen to think he's the father of that latest misguided excuse of a new movement in Metal, "Screamo". Why? He inadvertantly invented the genre when he merged Pop Metal with tortured dog barking vocals.

p.s. The quick and dirty on how I literally stumbled on Mamby Lion -- In 1987, I was in L.A. on a Thursday wandering down The Strip solo, with my Metal Detector on, past The Roxy, which was dead, past The Rainbow, because I wasn't hungry, and was walking past The Troubadour, when I heard an incredible guitar lead which stopped me dead in my tracks. I also heard a dog barking. I wondered who the h*ll miked up a dog, so I looked through the window and, low and behold, there was who I later found out was Mamby Loin and WWIII. And the guitarist, who looked like tennis pro, Vitas Gurulaitas, was playing a white Les Paul like a violin, which was kick-ass!

So I went in and watched the whole spectacle, laughing out loud and uncontrollably at the whole "Vulgar Display of Comedy"!

Actually, if you really think about it, Mamby Loin should have received a Grammy in 1991...

... For Comedy Album of The Year!... WWIII, "WWIII".
