A New Generation of Van Halen Tunes Coming Soon

There is new Van Halen music coming your way... sort of. Wolfgang Van Halen, son of Eddie, will is apparently working on his solo debut. He will do all the vocals and instrumentals on the album. There is no release date yet, but this album has been in the works for years. Honestly I can't wait to hear what Wolfgang creates.

What? No guest solos from Dad?

I will be curious to see what this sounds like. Has to be a blessing and a curse to grow up in the shadow of a gifted and reclusive and mercurial dad, no less to step into the spotlight that once shined on Mr. Anthony. A no win situation.

But he showed skill (as far as I can tell), and was graceful in deflecting some really horrid jabs at him, his talent, his weight, etc., etc. And he did gain some measure of props for his work with/in Tremonti.

When I think of people in his position, I almost come up blank. But then I think of Jason Bonham. His life has been a series of ups and downs, though he seems to have found some measure of peace as of late. I wish the best for Wolfie.

Actually a lot of people care. I'm looking forward to hearing this. Hopefully he can live up to his lofty name.

I prefer a Michael Anthony solo debut!

You nailed it, Jeff. The fact that he has to 'live up' to something, while also recognizing that is what gives him some cache, has to be a burden. I wish him well. I also wish his father well.
