Steel Panther Announce Two Socially Distant Shows

Steel Panther will play two shows in Pennsylvania this September. The band is now officially on the drive-in circuit.

This looks kind of fun to be honest. Look, I'm not big on these drive-in type shows, but I am starting to go batty like everyone else without concerts. Of course, if I suggested driving 8 hours to Scranton to see a show in a drive-in setting, my husband might fully commit me. If you live in or near Pennsylvania, check this out!

People here know that I like Steel Panther, even if their recent albums have started to sag a bit. I get their shtick. I like their musicianship. They punch us in the grapes for loving what we do, while they love it just the same. I say: good for them! They made a career out of it. And they sorta' live by the adage that there is no such thing as bad publicity.

In times like this, a bit of fun is in order. And their shows are fun. I have had mixed reactions to other recent drive-in performances (and some concerns about how socially distant they actually were). But that is beside the point. A chance to see a band doing what they do, equal parts comedy routine and metal journey? I am all for it. Laughing and rocking are in short supply these days. SP fits the bill on both counts. Hope these shows are a (safe) success!!!

I have seen Steel Panther 4 times and as far as I’m concerned, that’s three times too many!

For real, HIM, I wanna love ‘em like you and the majority of the others here do, really I do.

The last time I saw ‘em, I actually made it through the whole show with nary a guffaw because, quite simply, they’re not that funny.

Great musicianship and musical composition, however.

The car’s number IS funny, however!

No harm, Metalboy! People dig different things, right? And, like I intimated, they tend to draw sharp opinions from people. Not a lot of people on the fence with them.

As I also noted, they need to step it up for their next album. The last one was lacking. That said, whenever I hear (or see) "The Burden of Being Wonderful" off of _All You Can Eat_ (2014), I chuckle. Who knows? Perhaps I am just a dolt!

Glad to see you out and about again. I was starting to get worried.

Well, you needn’t worry, HIM! ...

I’ve been practicing social distancing to the point where I occasionally get too distant socially, as in social media ... but I’m still here, baby, still waiting for Jackie T. and his merry band of Metal MAGAs!

Needless to say, I will be nowhere near these shows and not just because it might kill me due to some rando NEVER MASKER but because, in words immortalized by Robert Plant in “The Song Remains The Same”, they are simply “... no longer clever.”

I do, however laud

... Doh! ... as I was saying, I do however laud the band for booking these shows not just for the entertainment but serving as a template for future shows wherever there is a Drive-In or where one can be built or restored ...
