Rob Halford Advertises Insurance

Rob Halford of Judas Priest is using his famous pipes to help sell Plymouth Rock insurance. He's in a new campaign... singing, of course. I hope Halford made bank from this. I mean that genuinely.

I guess you gotta make a buck somehow. The first thing Santa Halford needs to do is shave off that ridiculous looking beard

Soooo . . . GEICO wasn't available? Oh. Okay. Plymouth Rock Insurance called. They did? Yup. Arrange a meeting.

I mean, I guess this is 'cool' for the 'Metal God'?!?! And he has his blues album coming out at some point. And then another Priest album. So we are all good. Well, all of us except for KK, who has his own 'thing' going on.

I give Halford full props for living the life he does, for speaking out and celebrating metal. But . . .

. . . I only wish that Priest had carried on on a trajectory that placed them next to Maiden in terms of worldwide acclaim and continued chart and touring success. As much as some might argue with me, they haven't. And that continues to puzzle me. I am really not sure what happened when you compare those two bands. I have some ideas. But I can't quite come up with the real reason that they their paths diverged more than two or so decades ago.

For me, current Maiden vs. current Priest? Meh. Who cares? Both are still here. Good. Both are still touring (though on vastly different levels). Good. Both put out music. Good. Fans still love them. Good.

But, in both cases, I really just go back to the sweet spots for music (meaning: the classic albums). Seen both of them, though Priest most recently. Not sure I need to see either of them again. Does it hurt to write that? Not really. If Priest can still fill smaller venues and Maiden can still fill huge venues that is still a win-win for metal fans. And when neither of them is around it will be a shame all around.

But, really?!?! Ratt does GEICO and Halford does Plymouth?!?!? In a battle of mainstream notice, Peary and Croucier win (and my fingers cramped while I wrote that).
