Skid Row Announce Lead Singer Departure

Erik Grönwall has left Skid Row. The band says the departure was amicable and Erik says he had to leave the rigors of a touring band because of his health and continued recovery from cancer.

Interestingly, Lzzy Hale of Halestorm will fill in for the band's already-scheduled dates. I think that is amazingly cool and will be fun to see. I hope Erik continues on his path to health. Touring has to be a nightmare of exhaustion for anyone, let alone someone recovering from cancer. I wish him well... and this will just fuel more Sebastian Bach "return to the fold" rumors.

This serves up another reunion opportunity for Skid Row, but it seems near-impossible that it happens, and I think their opportunity for really significant $$ has already passed them by. It always felt like such a shame that they couldn't make things work, even if just for a short tour.

What are they gonna do when they get inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?, haha!!

I concur, Lzzy will be an interesting and energetic addition to the fold for the time being.

Then, what? Who you gonna call?

Fate seemingly conspires against the guys in SR. Even when they seem to be on the right track (and I expressed doubts about just how amazing Gronwall was, even if I wished him all the best in his health battles), they are just stuck . . . where they have been for a long time. And they are, to be fair, fine with that situation. To hear the owners tell it, each new singer is another step in the right direction. Another chance to be happy. Until they aren't or he can't.

Sab is his own worst enemy. But he is looking across a divide with other people who have buckshot in their feet. So, more and more, I don't begrudge him his problems even as I don't get the band's issues with making a little more scratch before they retire. And it would be just a little bit more scratch. Thing is, it would make some old-school fans really happy.

Truth be told, I don't really care anymore. I would likely see Bach if he were close to me and relatively cheap. SR? Not really interested. Them together? Perhaps, if it was also close by and relatively cheap. They have all made their beds. They sleep in them. If you want to spoon with any of them, have fun.

Eric, wish you the best of health. Lzzy, hope you rock the houses for your limited run. Bach and SR? You do you. As that seems to work for all parties (if not for all of the fans).
