Avenged Sevenfold Announce New Album 'Hail To The King'

For fans of Avenged Sevenfold, there's great news: a new album is on the way soon!

Los Angeles, CA - June 27, 2013 - Avenged Sevenfold today announced Warner Bros. Records would release Hail To The King, their sixth studio album, on August 27, 2013.  Produced by Mike Elizondo, Hail To The King is the follow up to the band's 2010 release, Nightmare, which debuted at Number One on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, Hard Rock Chart and Digital Chart.  On August 26th, one day before the release of Hail To The King, Avenged Sevenfold will play a free show for their fans at the Hollywood Palladium. The show is a special thank you to their fans and for fans to celebrate the release of the new album with the band.  Stay tuned for entry details, which will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Avenged Sevenfold's 5th studio album, Nightmare, was also produced by Mike Elizondo and earned the band it's highest ever debut on the Billboard album chart when it took the Number One spot and spawned three Number One, hit-singles "Nightmare", "So Far Away" and "Welcome To The Family". "Nightmare" broke radio records and was the most played current song at Rock Radio for all of 2010.  The New York Times called the band "Downright inevitable," while Guitar World hailed "Avenged Sevenfold are the undisputed kings of modern American badass rock and roll. A worthy successor to Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses and KISS."

Throughout 2010 and 2011 Avenged Sevenfold toured the world nonstop. They have achieved Diamond, Platinum and Gold awards for album sales in nearly a dozen countries and have sold out arenas the world over and headlined some of the worlds biggest and most prestigious music festivals playing to over one million people.  Due to an overwhelming demand from the United States troops abroad, Avenged Sevenfold embarked on a USO tour in the Middle East including stops in Kuwait and tour of Iraq performing for US soldiers stationed abroad.

Avenged Sevenfold made an unprecedented appearance as characters in the Call of Duty Black Ops 2 video game in November 2012. The game was the biggest selling video game of all time and featured the band's performance of a song written for the game, 'Carry On,' which then went on to Top the Billboard Monitor chart on January 13, 2013.

Avenged Sevenfold achieved worldwide success with their platinum 2005 breakthrough City Of Evil, which featured the wildly popular single "Bat Country." The band quickly became known for their spectacular live shows and continues to sell out arenas worldwide. In 2007, their self-titled album Avenged Sevenfold debuted at #1 on the Billboard Alternative, Hard, and Rock Charts and #4 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. It spawned the singles "Almost Easy," "Afterlife," and "Scream" and has sold over a million units worldwide. In 2008, the band captured their magnificent stage show on Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough, a live CD/DVD that has since been certified platinum. Over the years, Avenged Sevenfold has built a fanatical fanbase that includes nearly 14 millions fans on Facebook.

Stay tuned for further information on Hail To The King.

Tommy Lee In Drag, KISS In Makeup In New Pop Video

A pop princess type named Bonnie McKee just released a video for her song "American Girl." This wouldn't normally be news here except for the fact that Tommy Lee is in the clip (in drag!) and KISS appear in full regalia as well. You'll also see Adam Lambert, Katy Perry and a zillion other famous people. I don't really listen to this sort of music, but hey, I'll give anything a whirl at least once.

The Star Of The New Krokus Video Is... A Bulldog

Krokus recently released the album Dirty Dynamite. It's a straight up rocker with a lot of really solid tunes. The band chose to create a video for the "Dög Song" and it's a real clip with a storyline and everything! The first time I watched the video I sort dismissed it as childish... but on the second and third viewing I realized the awesomeness of the dog. I mean, the dog is living the rock n' roll life. I still think the clip is a little out of character for Krokus but good for them for trying something new. The song is a toe tapper too.

Playing On A Sound Stage To No One

Here's something I always wondered about: why did so many of our Glam heroes make music videos back in the day playing a concert... for no one. Was it purely cost? I get hiring extras adds a lot to production expense, and if that is the reason, then fine. Was it because the bands thought they looked cool prancing around for each other and no one else? Was it because any Glam metal video released between 1984 - 1989 received rotation on MTV anyway, and creating a huge concept was just a waste of time and cash? Maybe you have some opinions on the situation, so please share them in the comments section below. In the meantime, here's some classic "playing on a sound stage for no one" videos.

I must be on to something here, since Steel Panther made a music video in a warehouse playing... to no one.

KISS Vs. Whitesnake

Picture it: Dayton, Ohio, yesterday. My husband and I are driving down the road and the KISS song "Reason to Live" comes on the satellite radio. I didn't think much of it, but Eric must have been listening intently because in the middle of the song he said "This sounds more like Whitesnake than KISS." I knew he meant riff-wise, because clearly Paul Stanley and David Coverdale sound nothing alike. The more I thought about it, I decided that Eric was right. After all Whitesnake and Crazy Nights were both released in 1987. The sound is a similar product of the time - and Gene Simmons has openly admitted in the past that KISS would add power ballads to their records to get radio airplay. So, do you agree with my husband that "Reason to Live" sounds like Whitesnake? Is the song is a ripoff? Why or why not?

Cancer Sucks To Donate All Proceeds From Rock On The Range To Cancer Research

My friend Rick runs a great charity called Cancer Sucks. If you've done Rocklahoma, Rock on the Range or ShipRocked, you've probably met some of the great Cancer Sucks crew. Cancer Sucks had a booth at Rock on the Range last month and they raised a lot of money for cancer research. Here's a release Rick asked me to post. I do encourage you to visit the charity's Facebook page and to make a donation if you can afford it.

CancerSucks.com is proud to announce that they will be donating all proceeds raised at ROTR to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Centers. The organization was given the opportunity to be on site and raise awareness about their cause during the Rock on The Range Concert in Columbus, Ohio on May 17-19. AEG Live donated a vendor space for Cancer Sucks Merchandise and a signed ROTR poster from 2012 to help raise money through raffle ticket sales. Cancer Sucks Volunteers had a great time and the organization was received very well by the concert attendees. Cancer Sucks will donate $5500.00 raised during ROTR.

CANCER SUCKS!

Raising money for cancer research one event at a time! We have NO PAID EMPLOYEES and ALL overhead expenses are funded through corporate sponsorships. We donate every penny we raise at our events and all profits from merchandise sales to cancer research.
