Metallica wins Grammy for ’72 Seasons’

Metallica won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance for their album 72 Seasons. It was a well-deserved award and Metallica blew away their competition this year. I’m happy for them. Maybe someday the Metal category will make it on the television broadcast again… but doubtful.

The live show is mostly performances these days anyway. I didn’t watch the live broadcast last night. It was just easier to read the awards on the Washington Post live update post. Plus, I started Money Heist: Berlin on Netflix last night, so… priorities I guess.

Steel Panther Add Even More 2024 Tour Dates

Steel Panther are spending a lot of 2024 on the road it seems. The band just added a ton more dates to their On The Prowl tour. Dates include lots of stops across America before heading to Europe for festival season. Always a fun time.

Go if the band is playing near you!

'Backstage with Bon Jovi' & MusiCares Honor

Online museums are all the rage now. Def Leppard has one. Motley Crue has one... and now you can add Bon Jovi to the mix.

As part of Bon Jovi's 40th anniversary celebration, the band launched Backstage with Bon Jovi. It's a website and museum all rolled into one and busted down into four main sections: Exhibits, Studio, The Road and Office.

Also, Jon Bon Jovi was honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year last night. There are lots of celeb performances and interviews from the MusiCares gala last night. Here's a little bit of Mammoth WVH:

Here's Jon Bon Jovi on the red carpet:

Ace Frehley, 'Walkin' on the Moon' -- Official Video

Ace Frehley teased the "making-of" clip of "Walkin' on the Moon" a few days ago and now we have an official video for the track.

The song is on the new album 10,000 Volts. Steve Brown of Trixter produced the album and helped write most of the tracks, including "Walkin' on the Moon." What do you think?

So Was Sheriff Glam or Not?

Sheriff, the short-lived Canadian group, was played on Sirius 80s on 8 the other day. Of course it was the band's biggest hit (a number one!) "When I'm With You." The song is your quintessential power ballad. The band members couldn't get along and broke up, and that was it for Sheriff.

"When I'm With You" has all the hallmarks of a Glam tune. Maybe Sheriff came out just a little too early to really strike it big because they formed in 1979. Their self-titled debut came out in 1982. The band also never made a formal video for "When I'm With You."

So what do you think about Sheriff? Glam or not?

Durbin, 'Hallows' -- New Video

Remember when James Durbin was on season 10 of American Idol? Remember when he was the frontman for Quiet Riot? Well, now he has his own band, simply called Durbin. The act will release a debut soon via Frontiers.

The video for the song "Hallows" is below. It's a single from Screaming Steel. Durbin previously released a video for the album's title track. Check out "Hallows" below. Metal!

Who Remembers HSAS?

I came across a video from HSAS the other day and I was blown away because this is a group I hadn't thought about in forever.

HSAS is Hagar Schon Aaronson Shrieve. That is Sammy Hagar, guitarist Neal Schon, bassist Kenny Aaronson and drummer Michael Shrieve. The band lasted for like a year because the members were obviously pretty busy with their main projects. Still, the quartet put out an album on Geffen called Through the Fire and a single called "Whiter Shade of Pale."

Folks that got to see HSAS live are very lucky!
